Just wondering whether there are any countries local to LoS that Thais can visit without a passport?

I dont think they can go anywhere without a passport, without a visa yes, but not without a passport.

Until recently Thai's could visit borderplaces in Cambodia with their ID-Card , but this has changed .

Now you need a passport .

Better get a Thai Passport.

They can go to Laos with just their ID card....and Myanmar I think as well, though only short visits.

It's not difficult, nor expensive, for a Thai citizen to get a Thai passport. Just go to one of the passport offices with the required documentation and apply. The latter webpage may be out of date, so people should telephone to find out the current requirements. The passport should be ready within 3 working days.

For countries that Thais can go without visas, see Q: Thai citizen - what countries can visit without visa before travel or you can search the IATA database which is publicly available on a number of websites. Click here or here to go to such websites.
