Featured Replies

Indonesia’s largest cement producer, PT Semen Indonesia Tbk, said it will build a US $200 million cement plant in Burma early next year as part of its expansion into the Southeast Asian market, according to a report by the Jakarta Post. The company plans to invest $70 million in the joint-venture project and is seeking a 40 percent share. The new plant, which will have a capacity of 1 million tons per year, will serve the Burmese market and neighboring countries like Thailand and Bangladesh. Construction of the plant is expected to be completed by 2017, the company said.
