Long Stay Visa Renewal

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a long stay visa which expires in October of this year. At that time I will be in the United States.

Can I renew my long stay visa in the US or must I apply for a new one because I will not be extending/renewing in Thailand?

Thanks in advance

Tony

If you have a multiple entry O-A visa that expires in October 2013, you should exit and reenter Thailand locally just prior to leaving for the US. Upon entry, you will get another 1 year permission to stay. Before leaving for the US you need to purchase a reentry permit, single 1000 baht, multiple, 3800 baht. That will keep your permission to stay "alive".

You are talking about the non immigrant O-A Long Stay (retirement) visa right? If so and issued in the US it should be multi entry and can be used as above if still valid.

If you are actually talking about an immigration one year extension of stay you would need a new visa for entry and then extend again 60 days after your return.
