I was till now on a "take care wife visa"

it ended and I made a visa run (because no 400K on my account).

Went to Ban Laem, but took the wrong place I went on a city which is called at Cambodias side "Prom".

My visa ended on the 10th March and I was there on the 9th. And the Thai officer gave me only 1 day (from 9 to 10) and told come tomorrow again.

My wife told me that he wanted some money under the table, but he did it so stupid that it was not possible. So I want to warn about that border.

On the same day we went to Ban Laem, there I asked the Immigration and they told me they have no problem giving me a tourist visa even the other visa is still one day and they don't understand why the other guy did not.

In Cambodia I got a 30 min interview why I visit Cambodia twice on one day. But finaly it turned out that the Cambodian Immigration had no problem with me, they worried if I get back in Thailand problems because no page left in my passport. After that the Cambodian called arround if there is any way to refund the 1000 Baht for entry to Cambodia because I paied twice. Of course there is no way, he also knew it, but he tried to show that he is helpfull.....

Than on the Thai side without any problem 30 days (on the same day...).....

did I understand it right that I can now with the 30 day tourist visa get another 30 days in Bangkok or is that wrong?

No, you will only get one 15 day extension for 1900 Baht. This can be done at your nearest Immigration Office.

It's not really a Visa, just a 30 day stamp. :o

15 days :-(

that means now every month to somewhere outside.....

the stamp is the visa, they write the visa type in the stamp....

Yes , afraid so, only a 15 day extension. and 1900 Baht for the 15 days too. Plus what you pay at the Cambodian Border for the Cambodian Visa, border hopping can sure be expensive. :D

Luckily Thailand does not Charge a visa fee, but considering the ammount of Tourists that come here, I fear it may be only a matter of time before paid for Visas will be required for all, Just like Laos and Cambodia. It would generate big bucks for the Thai Government coffers.

Maybe I should write to the Head of Immigration Department and suggest such a move, what do you think? :o

Balderdash! Every visa is subject to a fee. You are talking about the 30-day stamp on arrival given to tourists entering without a visa – not available to all nationalities.

You are being silly, and you know it. There is a calculation in granting 30 days’ stay without visa: more tourists, more foreign exchange. It used to be two weeks, and you can be sure the Thai government knew what it was doing when it extended the period to 30 days.

maybe you come here and I kick your ass for a small fee, hahahaha (not meant really, just a joke).

Actually the regulation is pretty stupid. If they would offer one month in Bangkok for 3000 Baht. Thailand would get 3000 Baht instead of nothing, people would stay the same in thailand.

in my opinion the 30 day stamp is a tourist visa.

it also tells "Visaclass" something thai than 30.

And not every visa costs money, why?

You are mightily confused.

Errr, yes, I was talking about the 30 day on entry, why? Cos that is what the original poster was talking about.

I'm being silly, wow, not much gets past you does it?

Your sense of humour is wonderful. :o

Eureka! Now I got it. You were saying that Thailand charges no visa fee for entering Thailand without a visa and, if you have the right nationality, are granted leave to stay for 30 days. That is correct, of course. No visa, no visa fee.

I take it back, with my humble apologies, and acknowledge that it was in fact I who was being silly not to recognise that you were saying that no visa costs no visa fee. How silly of me!

And yes, you did tell the original poster (OP) that a 30-day stamp on arrival, when entering without a visa, is not a visa. That is correct, too.

Whether the OP will get the 15-day extension you mentioned, for the purpose of his delaying his non-visa border run, is another question. Are you applying for and receiving these 15-day extensions for border runs? Most reports have been about a maximum of 10 days received, very rarely more and perhaps not for border runs. Officially, yes, it can be more than 10 days, always at the Immigration officer’s discretion.

The experience of most posters is that immigration offices will not want to extend a visa free entry more than 10 days. There are exceptions but they should not be counted on.

To the OP i cant understand why you only got a day the first time .............the guy must not of liked your face. :o

Anyway the standard extension to a 30 day entry stamp is 10 days as with anything longer extensions are possible but not the norm.

It might pay you to travel down to Penang and try for Non Imm O (taking marriage cert and wifes i.d with you) or at the very least apply for a double or triple entry tourist visa down there.................will save you a lot of running to the border every 30-40 days.

Possible problem with applying for the Non Imm O will be they might think you are trying to circumvent the 400k rule.............but you can only try.

Edit.......this topic might interest you.

Completely agree, that's it! And of course 30 days entry stamp it is not a visa!
