My girlfriend is showing symptoms of Endometriosis. We're going to be in Bangkok next week, I was wondering if anyone could advise a good hospital to take her for a diagnosis. Any idea on the costs of this as well?

Before replying, a bit more info needed (as endometriosis is a common cause of infertility):

1. Is she wanting to have children/more children?

2. If yes, has she had trouble conceiving?

3. Age?

Hi Sheryl,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. My girlfriend is 26. She has one child that she had at the age of 19. We are trying for another child. She was actually pregnant, but sadly miscarried a few weeks ago (around 7 weeks in)

She's previously had pains in her abdomen going down the back of her legs, she also goes to the toilet a lot and says it's sometimes painful during sex. We visited the local doctor (we're on Koh Samui) a long time ago for this but the doctor drew a blank and sent her home.

I'd really like a professional to take a look at her. I have little faith in any of the doctors here. We went to the local doctor a few weeks when she started having pains in her abdomen, the doctor did an ultra-scan and said she was fine, sent her home and told her not to worry about the pain. That night she had a miscarriage.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Is the pain worse during her menstrual periods? (If so would indeed suggest endometriosis)

Here are some suggested doctors. She is going to need a vaginal ultrasound and quite possibly a laparoscopy to get a definitive diagnosis (in some cases the same laparoscopic procedure that clinches the diagnosis can also remove some of the lesions associated with endometriosis).

Phyathai 2, Thonburi and Rama 9 hospitals will be less expensive than Bumrungrad or BNH. As the docs mentioned for the first 2 do not have frequent hours (they are Professors at Mahidol/Siriiraj) you might like to try Dr. Somchai at Pram Ram 9 first.
