Chalerm: Immigration Bureau Needs To Implement Tougher Screening On Foreign Arrivals

webfact

Considering most insurgents seem to materialise across land borders, do bot hold a passport or ID, why would this moronic request be implemented. Perhaps if he had taken the time to be part of the non entity negotiations in Malaysia he may have known this. But obviously someone is Yanking (pun intended) his chain.

What are you people talking about. The topic is about a more thorough screening process upon arrival. This is the same guy who said terrorism is under control last month. Nothing is going to change except the guy with the ex-fugitive, acquitted killer son will get more resources at the expense of the Thai people.

A hint for the police captain. Look to the south for the terrorists that are murdering men, women, children, police and military personnel.

Exactly.

Chalerm has grabbed the wrong end of stick, possibly because there was no money attached to it (?) The terrorist threats Thailand are being warned about are already here in the LOS not waiting to stand endlessly in line at Swampy.

"Police Captain Chalerm who oversees national security said the Immigration Bureau needs to implement tougher screening on foreign arrivals as the country’s lax immigration policies and relative freedom has permitted regional terrorist movements to steadily build up influence." Nothing in the OP report in anyway excludes improving land border procedures.

Just curious if you and Westaurel are blood relatives? It is always amazing how some readers can be so opinionated and prejudice, never mind having facts to back their positions.

If you listen to the FBI, there is a boogieman around every corner. They ought to know since the FBI, CIA, NSA, etc are the top terror organizations on the planet.

Fear mongers, the lot of them. Just more BS to instill fear into people to maintain control.

What fantasy land do you live in? The real world is an evil place filled with many evil people and countries that want to destroy you and your way of life.

Terrorists in Thailand??? What terrorists???

Awhile back, amid the failed BKK bomb and assassination plots, the government very clearly told us all that there are NO terrorists in Thailand.

Middle Eastern types with bombs, yes. ME guys aiming to assassinate others, yes. ME guys stockpiling amonium nitrate and other explosive making materials, yes.

But PLEASE don't call them TERRORISTS, certainly not in Thailand. whistling.gif

Who do the United States think they are ?

Deal with the internal problems of a foreign nation. Thailand has always been proud to be the only nation in Southeast Asia which has not been colionalized.

But they just doing as the USA require. Because of these imperialists Americans, we will have to be subjected to a body search on arrival. A reason why I don't go to America, but impose that there, it's a scandal !

They should rather clean the mess at their home with all the xxxx, rifle massacres there before interfere in things that are none their business !

2 things. The US often complies reports on terrorist activity and vulnerabilities around the world. Second, I didn't read anywhere that the US, specifically the FBI, told Thailand to do anything, not that they could. As you said, proud of never being colonised and in more recent times, Thailand has said, "thanks but no thanks" to the US, not as the US "requires".

Perhaps you just have a pre-disposition to make things up to fit your rants, but I wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. Rather, ask yourself, why would Chalerm apparently be so willing to jump all over this?

Not only terrorist are relatively safe in Thailand but much more all kinds of wanted criminals find a safe haven here. LOS is developing to the most important criminal hub of SE-Asia. The immigration office would make a wise move to try to connect to the police and intelligence data bases on an international level. It cost only a few seconds at the immigration booths to scan and check passports. This implementation would reduce criminality by foreigners in Thailand.

You like to make bombs?

No, I like Somtham.

Have you ever heard of 9/11?

No, I usually buy my stuff at 7-11.

Welcome to Thailand, Sir.

I think this is Dept. PM Pol. Captain Chalerm's interpretation and reaction on PM Yingluck's remark on focussing on high-end tourists and not necessarily on huge numbers of lesser beings. The (re-)introduction of the Gold Elite Card with a suitable price would surely help to filter out any riff-raff or terrorists :-)

And loads of child molesters wouldn't have the chance continuing to do what they're known for.

That's because presumably you are a GUEST and NOT a resident. If you were a resident you would NOT have to apply for an extension every year, nor would you do 90 day reporting.

Chalerm shooting his mouth off again? Does that really warrant so much opinion?

He's put in charge of 'resolving' whatever the latest 'news' byte says. Always fails.

This will quickly die a death when it becomes virtually impossible to screen every visitor requiring a visa on arrival. PTP doesn't want any more publicity about horrendous queues at Swampy and visitor numbers, not quality, mean a lot more to the country.

and how K. Chalerm thinks he will do that ? by keeping tourists longer for police interrogation ? so instead of 45 minutes queuing that will make one and half hour ? what a great move ....... whistling.gifwhistling.gif

Its already here it took my friend 1hr and 20 min a few days ago but mostly due to chinese tourist

Do any of the rants here actually address what the guy is saying? Maybe, just maybe there is a problem with terrorists? Maybe there needs to be some screening done? I'm not saying what's right or wrong, but.........
