A Couple Of Nights Outside Vientiane

Featured Replies

Hi all

Will be in Vientiane from July 16 to August 7 with the missus and baby (16 months in July). My sister and one of my mates and his wife will also be there.

We are thinking of heading up to Vang Vieng for 2-3 nights to chill. Then my mate and his wife are heading to Luang Prabang from there. My sister will come back to Vientiane with us. We'd like to spend another couple of nights outside of Vientiane (within 50 Km) near a river or somewhere like that.

Any thoughts? Have been to this place : http://www.rivertimelaos.com/

It was quite nice but we'd like to go somewhere different this time.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I was going to suggest the place you went to before. In the same area is Buffalo Mountain, which is a nice getaway if you like it quiet. Not much to do there though or further out is the casino and golf course if you like that sort of thing.

What about if I headed up river from Vientiane say about 20 clicks? Anything you know of up that way?

Cheers

nothing upriver from VTE, might try Dansavanh resort on Nam Ngum lake, has a casino and golf course, the Lao zoo is close by, can hire a boat for lake cruise, it up hwy 10 about 1 1/2 hrs from VTE,

There are also a few 'resorts' popping up along the road leading to there as it follows the river.
