Hi submitted settlement visa application today very easy!!!

Woke up late set alarm for 5.00 pressed snooze so i thought but had turned it of woke up at 6.45 thought what the hel_l may as well still go. Arrived at 8.00 and all complete for 9.30 so was impressed.

Just to let you know as i was unaware the letter that they gave to my Mrs say's

You will be contacted within 5-10 days and informed whether a sort or full interview is required,

" If a short interview is required, the applicant can visit the embassy on monday, Wednesday or Thursday at 1.00 - 2.00. Day to suit the applicant. No appointment required.

If a full inteview is required the waiting period for the interview date at present is 12-14 weeks."

So do i understand right if only a short inteview is required you can go any time as listed and don't have to wait the full 12-14 weeks as with the full inteview.

I still had a few things for my wife to take to the interview but hope we will get a short inteview as we have been together several years and fulfill all the requirments they ask for.

So thanks Scouse Gu22 and everyone else that has been of great help during my application.

What ever interview is required and whatever the outcome of the application it would of been no where near as strong as it was when submitted.

Thanks again

Jay

Correct, if she is given a short interview then she can go at anytime as listed. She will be asked, at most, a couple of simple questions, or maybe even no questions at all, and if her answers are consistent with the documents then the visa will be issued.

Best of luck, hope it's a short interview.

Important.

If there is to be a gap of more than 4 weeks between her getting the visa and actually arriving in the UK, she must ask for the visa to be postdated before it is issued. Not doing so could mean her visa will expire before she has spent the required 24 months in the UK to qualify for ILR and so will have to apply for FLR to cover the gap, at a cost (currently) of £335 minimum!

Interesting that the letter says a 12 to 14 week wait for a full interview. The website, at the time of writing, still says 8 to 10!
