Grand Ayatollah On Gays

Featured Replies

This low-down on homosexuality is provided by Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani, the supreme religious authority for Shiite Muslims in Iraq:

"In the midst of sectarian violence that threatens to drag Iraq into civil war, the country's influential Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has issued a violent death order against gays and lesbians on his Web site, according to London-based LGBT human rights groups OutRage.

Written in Arabic, the fatwa comes from a press conference with the powerful religious cleric, where he was asked about the judgment on sodomy and lesbianism. “Forbidden,” Sistani answered, according to OutRage, “Punished, in fact, killed. The people involved should be killed in the worst, most severe way of killing.”

A question for all you relativists out there: When was the last time you heard a Cardinal or a Pope call for homosexuality to be rewarded with death?

It's about time gay activists decided who the greater enemy is. George Bush or the religion of "worst death possible". :o

I guess if you're gay and in Iraq it would be Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani. But if you're gay and living in the U.S. it'd probably be George Bush.

I wonder if His Emenence Sistani has seen this picture of President Ahmadinejad? :o

I love it when you almost become a gay activist and feminist just to try to prove your blessed 'liberals' wrong, Boon. :o

Fight the power! :D

Makes you wonder eh ?

In a society that treats women like cattle and tries to make them virtually invisible, where men walk hand-in-hand with other men, where men kiss each other openly, where it seems most of the men prefer anal sex (according to quite a few of the BGs working in "that" area of Pattaya), yet they ban homosexuality ?

I think maybe the Grand Poobah is just scared to come out of the closet himself. :D

Well, it looks like Sistani is the Pat Robertson of the Shiite world.

They are both enemies. It's not like choosing one over the other is going to give them absolution

...and, as far as "worst death possible" is concerned, I think the institution instrumental in preventing elected governments from ruling certain countries, the CIA, have a few things to teach to any religious based culprits.

You thought sawing heads off was cruel, did you?
