Chronic Coccyx Pain

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a doctor in Bangkok for chronic (two years) coccyx (tailbone) pain caused by a minor accident? I think it needs someone who has experience with this because the standard treatment is things like rest, painkillers, hot/cold treatment and special cushions which haven't helped much.

Join the club, it's called coccydynia and it's a real pain in the ar*e, orthopedic guys have told me that there is really no treatment for it although there are ways to control the pain, mostly it's about learning to unclench your cheeks when standing or sitting - if you've recently gained weight then loosing that weight helps enormously..

I don't know if the coccyx is considered under the purview of spine specialists, but if you are in Bangkok, it might be worth a visit the the BNH Hospital Spine Clinic. They get high marks from me, and I've seen others recommend them as well.

Most orthopedic doctors are familiar and can treat/diagnose.

Most orthopedic doctors may be able to diagnose but beyond painkillers and cushions treatment is very limited. The BNH spine clinic looks more promising.

Indeed, but if you research it you'll find that treatment is very limited everywhere, I know, I've had it for several years and have tried a range of hospitals both in Thailand, Singapore and Europe.
