Hi All, I am flying into Udon Airport on May 16 and am looking to hire a car from the Airport, .

I searched online and found a good price through a site called Fast car hire, which seems to be based in England.

the deal is I pay them $36.00 upfront and the balance to Budget when I pick up the car. The price is cheaper than through Budget direct,

My question is, Does any one know anything about Fast car hire, Are they legit? I obviously dont want to book and then arrive and find no car, So any info appreciated.

A friend recomended a company they had used, said it was called UDT car hire or UDH car hire but I was unable to locate them. Any one heard of this company or can recomend a good one that is not to dear.

Google "Fast Car Hire Dissolved." Generally a Good Thing to deal with international brands direct - when you're half-way round the world, you can usually depend on the standard of service you're used to, especially if something breaks down.

Stick with Budget. Better service.

I have used Fast Car hire for about 4 years, about 4 times a year , and until a few weeks ago i would have given them a good report card until a few weeks ago when i pre paid the full amount for my hire for a car from Hertz in BKK and the car was delivered but they tell me they have not received the money. Somebody has my money .I speak to Hertz office and basically they say if i don't pay again- no car (meaning i loose hotel bookings etc). They say talk to Fast Car - not their problem - i still wondered if they are shitting me !. No replies, no response at all from Fast Car !!! Now i find out they have been dissolved since last year yet still operating whilst insolvent. Pay Pal would not help because the period between payment was out of the dispute period.

Lesson learnt.

Yeah, sometimes cheap isn't cheap from afar. I had good luck with budget but like a lot of things in LOS it isn't cheap due to taxes etc. I paid US$900 to rent a car for a month last month. Blew my mind, but I couldn't find a better deal with another big company like Avis.

Actually Avis does have monthly rates too, but you have to ask. About the same as Budget

Lek car rental Udon Thani is the most popular local car rental company.

Thanks everyone for your comments, I googled fast car hire and it wasn't good so thanks for the advice. I have now organised a car from Lek, so hopefully all good, I will be in the Nong Khai / Phon Phisai area between may 16 and 25 so if anyone in that area wants to catch up for a beer and a chat, and the latest news from Aussie, drop me a line.
