A Kachin group involved in the peace process between ethnic rebels and the Burmese government has said it is unsure when the next round of talks will take place. Lamai Gum Ja told Eleven Media there was a lack of trust on both sides. “Both sides need to show mutual trust if they want real peace,†Lamai Gum Ja said. Fighting between the two sides has eased since an outbreak of hostilities in December and January. Peace talks, originally due to be held in April in Myitkyina, stalled over a disagreement about whether foreign observers should attend.
