Featured Replies

An anti-drug campaign jointly run by China, Burma, Thailand and Laos has led to the arrest of 812 suspects, China’s state-run news agency Xinhua reports. Since its launch on April 19, joint patrols aimed at combatting drug trafficking on the Mekong River have also resulted in the seizure of 1.93 tonnes of drugs and a batch of firearms and ammunition, said a Chinese spokesperson on Monday. The suspects are from China, Laos, Burma, Thailand and Vietnam, the spokesperson said, adding that several drug rings operating in the region have ceased operation in the wake of the crackdown.
