Fair point. I only read the headline.

Looks a bit like the cold shoulder Rooney is getting.

brendan rodgers has said exactly what every liverpool fan wanted to hear i think. and has helped to paint suarez into a corner while doing so.

thing is with rooney and bale you've heard nothing from either player - they may well want to leave their clubs but they've at least kept a respectful silence while their agents do the dirty work in the background. suarez hasn't been able to keep his gob shut, whether because he's simply very stupid, his agent isn't very good at his job, or more likely both.

think we've now basically said to him and his clown agent 'go find a club overseas willing to pay £55m for you or you are staying here lad'.

Sometimes it's better to sell rotten apples at a discount, especially if that means you still make a hefty profit.

the profit has to be balanced up though against a number of things though. 1) why would we sell him to a domestic rival in arsenal thereby weakening us and strengthening them? 2) we might get £45m for him but as we've seen with mkhitaryan and from the looks of it costa, having the money isn't necessarily helping us get top class players in and 3) it would also make both rodgers and FSG look very, very weak now by going back on their word.

I don't know what other Arsenal fans think, but if Rogers assertions that he was made no promises are true, then I hope, sincerely hope that he goes to a club who can handle flawed characters and their obnoxious little to$$er agents. Step up to the plate RM please!!

Having said that I don't think we will ever know the full truth. On the one hand I can't believe that he or his agent has never discussed the situation of being locked into a club with potentially no CL access, but on the other if he had a strong card to play on that front why does it only now emerge at the 11th hour. All very unseemly - I hope we avoid signing him.

yes. I think so. He also seemed to cause some aggravation at his previous club Ajax over contracts etc and ivanovic is not the first player he bit.

If you adopt the Shankly philosophy of football not being a complicated game you could very well say fck it.

I'm happy if he goes to RM like santisuk says.

shankly would have beaten suarez silly. and reminded him that it's the people of liverpool he is playing for, not himself.

Not sure Mr Shankly would have signed him in the first place.

Shanks and Tommy Docherty were at a game. There was a player every other club coveted on view.

Docherty said to Shanks - '100,000 wouldn't buy him.'

Shanks retorted - 'Yeah, and I'm one of the 100,000!'

The great managers of the future will be just like the great managers of the past.

Bit more wheeling and dealing going on, but the principles are the same.

i reckon santi's right , we'll never know the full truth . But suspect agents and players might be taking a little more notice of the wording of the 'release' clauses from now on.

As 4 the bitting ,someone on here Steve? said dutch fans reckoned it was part of a mad desperate Plan 2 force a move !! and effectively it did, it was the last competitive game he played 4 them . sound familiar? or am i being a touch 2 cynical ?

Or another ' kinder' explanation could be there was a misunderstanding down to language between rodgers and suarez, i don't know what suarezs English is like but im guessing most on here have experienced a non native English speaker saying Yes i understand totally, only for it to come back later and bite them on the arse big time when you find out later they totally didn't !!!!! .not saying that alone is the root of the prob , but might it be a factor ? and i did notice the recent suarez interview was done by Sydney lowe whose the guardian and bbc' spainish football correspondant, whose fluent in spainish . but as santi.said we're never likely to get the ttotal truth.

Who knows smokes he's certainty got behaviour issues, Not much thought smoke just cobbling together a picture maybe slightly diferent from most maybe not, as 4 the translator or even the solicitor, yeah Liverpools seems to have saved the day 4 them on that front, but tbh did any of us understand the release Clause as liverpool have announced it ? I 4 one took it as a given pay the money and your out , NO? you know what legal jargon is like, its a different difficult language, and an oh yeah,' the release clause like u wanted is in their' could and probably been the extent of the agents or players questioning?, doesn't sound unreasonable or unlikely

But if you look at the respected interviews, not the bastardized derivatives what Rodgers and Suarez said, they both refer to conversations, but both tell the same story ie that he can go but with slight differences, ie the fee?? maybe the finer points which from my experience are the ones which r v easy misunderstand ? who knows smokes as weve said smokes we'll never know.

Sell him outside the Premiership will suit everyone here I think.

Except the buying club it appears so far unless Liverpool are playing hardball.

Can't blame them....he is an outstanding player even though an arse off field.....oh and even on it at times.

Isn't the question more of "would we be a better team with him and do we have a manager that can control him?" I doubt there is such a manager mind but....Surely at this stage, if/when he leaves anfield he's pulled all the stunts left to pull? Not sure myself, but i've always been a big fan of his going back to Ajax, and was livid when we passed up the chance to sign him but we've had our own share of these characters in Modric ofcourse and to a lesser extent the petulent child that is Adebayor.

So ultimately It really depends on whether you think theres a manager that can control him or you reckon he is just a horrid little sh1t that lives in his own little world of lunacy.

(On a footnote. Atleast suarez is offering them a chance to make money as opposed to shitting on his club and teamates and sitting it out for a free and costing them millions. thats the best i can say about him but in my mind compaired to that piece of vermin Campbell, Suarez is just just a vile, despicable, self serving piece of trash and shouldn't be bracketed unfairly with scum like dear old, "its not about the money" Sol.smile.png )

Still think that Madrid is his destination and that would suit Liverpool and their fans best

It's rare to hear someone talk in such a complimentary fashion about previous club players and managers as carmine does.

Are you suggesting that a Spurs fan should be complimentary about Sol Campbell? Seriously?

Just catching up in here. I reckon you are bang on the money rij, I always had a hunch the bite was pre-meditated. And I am in full agreement with Carm's, Suarez is just a very nasty piece of <deleted>. The Premiership would be a better place without him, but there is still a small hope that he might end up at the Emirates and fall flat on his face.

Eto'o to Chelsea ? If he still has anything left he'd be an upgrade over Torres. I expect there will be a bunch of rumors about Eto'o. He's definitely for sale and would be a nice addition for a club a striker short heading into the season. Money will be the issue though.

"There is only one Jose Mourinho. I have played under a lot of great coaches - but there is no other character in the game like Jose," Eto'o was quoted saying in the Daily Mail.

"He is one of the best coaches in the world - and we had a lot of success together at Inter Milan. I would like to have the chance to play under him again - because it is never boring when Jose is around.

This Italian report links Lamela with Spurs. It is from IL TEMPO ..... Kindly translated by an American chap..... And frankly is a difficult read.

Evidently Baldini had dinner with Sabatini in London last week. A few more snippets in the Italian press. Lots of speculation on spurs community.......lots of BS too!

http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/erik-lamela.98368/page-33#post-3510432

Yes, lots of BS. I doubt Lamela leaves in this window. But, given the financial situation of many Italian clubs, if the price is right...
