plachon Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Am told by the travel agent that neither me (Brit) nor my wife (Thai) need visas to enter South korea. Is this info correct, as don't want to turn up at airport and be refused entry? Cheers!
Axel Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Sure, it is correct. As long as you go as tourist either can stay up to 3 months without visa.

bkkmei Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Hallo We spent a week in Korea last year - really enjoyed it. Loved seeing the Koreans boozing away (boy, those girls can drink!) In Seoul, I thought the War Memorial Museum was very interesting. Insadong is quite a touristy but very nice area. Sinchon - near the universities - is buzzing, and in the evening there is a whole grid of bars and restaurants and lights (a la Bladerunner!) Busan is another great city - interesting fish market! And a street called 'Youth Street' again full of bars and, well, youths. Gyeongju is a nice town with a lot of old temples and relics if that's your thing. Loved the food there - it was so yummy: the barbeques and all the little side dishes, the omelettes, the rougher version of sashimi, the bibimbap, the stews, these big big meat dumplings.... good hearty winter fare (delicious any time of year!) have fun.

My Thai bf came to visit me in Busan, we were told Thais could stay up to 3 motnhs without a visa. We even tried to get a Korean visa for him at the Korean embassy in BKK but they told him he didnt need one. When he arrived they kept him for an hour and a half. He arrived alone mind you. Once they called me and brought me back to immigration I just had to sign a gaurentee that he would leave when his ticket said he was leaving. It is a different case b/c the two of you will be arriving together so hopefully you won't have any problems. Have fun!!
