Ideally, any fracture that requires surgery should be done within 10 days or so otherwise healing starts and surgery is much more difficult.

The wounds should be managed in a hospital environment under the supervision of the orthopedic surgeon that will do the operation as only he will determine when surgery can safely be performed without or limited risk of infection.

Chonburi may not be the best option at this time and you may need to consider coming to Bangkok perhaps to Chulalungkorn university hospital if funds are a problem. You need admission, the ankle needs 24h elevation, the wounds need professional attention and regular dressing changes; this you are unlikely to be able to manage effectively on your own.

An ankle is a weight bearing joint and is extremely important to have managed properly or you may have a lifetime of discomfort..

Thanks FBN.

OP, Queen Sirikit has both ward beds and private rooms, did you inquire about availability of both? As it sounds like that doc was ready to admit you which as noted is exactly what needs to occur. The cost of a private room ("hong piset") there will still be less than a private hospital.

And of course the cost of a private hospital will still be less than the costs are going to be if this doesn't get properly cared for. If infection gets into the bone you could be looking at months of IV antibiotics. And as FBN mentioned, surgery could end up being a more complicated procedure than if done earlier (and also with less good result).

If a private room at Queen Sirikit is not an option please do whatever you have to financially to get care elsewhere. Both Phyathai Sri Rach and Samitivej Sri Racha would likely do a decent job, Phayathai probaly a bit less expensive. you can also reduce costs by insisting in the least expensive room (may have to push a bit as they like to lead off by trying to sell you on the more expensive ones). Lowest price semi-private room is fine. You can check out room rates + nursing charges online. Medication and doctor's bills, plus surgery, will be additional and harder to estimate since depends on many factors.

OP, you could end up crippled if you don't get this sorted properly.

At least visit a hospital or clinic for wound care and dressings changed daily if you can, it is not expensive.

There is nothing more that I can add to that which has already been articulated by FBN and Sheryl.

If cost is a barrier to you receiving care then go to one of the Public hospitals already mentioned and accept admission to the cheapest accommodation the hospital offers which may be a ward -( dorm like multi-occupancy )

If you contact your countries embassy and speak to the consular division they may be prepared to assist you. Any assistance which is provided is unlikely to be financial but the embassy staff may be able to help negotiate a payment (instalment) plan for you with the hospitals managers.

As FBN noted you need professional care which can only be provided in a hospital

!If you have not already done so please take action today.

In conclusion , as I said before, delaying treatment can only result in the very real possibility of a poor outcome.

The doctor in Chonburi told me that the best time to do the surgery would be the day of the accident, when it was not swollen, and now I am resting in Pattaya, and will be re-admitted to Chonburi Hospital on 17th June, so maybe to be operated on 19th, will it be too long? I think it is because of the unhealed open wound and also docotr's schedule.

The exact timing of the surgery needs to be decided upon based o nthe condition of the wound, basically as soon as infection does not pose a risk is advisable.

As has been explained you should be in hospital now, with your leg elevated, trained staff doing dressing changes, ortho surgeon examining the ankle at least daily and ready to operate as soon as conditions permit. Depending on the state of the wound IV antibiotics might also be advisable -- the sooner the infection resolves the sooner they can operate, plus at all costs you want to avoid infection getting into the bone.

So in short, no, it is not a good idea to stay home and wait for admission on the 19th, for al lthe reasons above.

Chonburi is a busy understaffed provincial hospital. Your future mobility is at stake. I don't think you really want to let your care be dictated by when the doctor's schedule has an opening

You have received some very good advise from me, Sheryl and FBN amongst others but you do not seem to be listening or taking any notice of that advise.

By "resting" at home your ankle will not improve and in all probability it will become worse.

If the infection begins to involve the bones in your ankle you will be faced with treatment which extends into months/years and the very real possibility of never regaining the use of fully functional ankle

I am sorry to be so blunt but -

You need to be in hospital NOW.

I really appreciate everybody's advices. Seems that now my only option is private hospital if I want to admit quickly, but consultation with orthopaedics will be I think Friday onwards, will check it out again tomorrow, btw, I am taking antibiotic and some inflammation medicines from Chonburi Hospital.
