Police wrap up autopsy of first victim in 2010 political violence
By Digital Media

BANGKOK, Jun 8 – An autopsy report on the first victim who was shot dead in the 2010 Bangkok’s political upheaval will be submitted to the Criminal Litigation Department for further action in court.

The victim, identified as Kriangkrai Kamnoi, 24, was a tuk-tuk taxi driver who was among nearly 100 people killed in the months-long violence in several areas of the capital.

He was shot during a demonstration in front of the Education Ministry on Rajdamnern Avenue on April 10, 2010 and was pronounced dead at nearby Vajira Hospital.

The Criminal Court would be requested to determine details and cause of Kriangkrai’s death during a crackdown by military forces against protesters of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, known as the Red Shirts.

Police said the cases of three other victims who were killed near Bon Kai area on Rama IV Road will be wrapped up soon by the Department of Special Investigation.

One of the high-profile cases was the murder of Maj Gen Kattiya Sawasdipol, or Seh Daeng, a former specialist of the Royal Thai Army who was killed on May 13, 2010.

Investigation into the case has yet to be finalised, police said.

The Criminal Court and Bangkok South District Court have so far ruled on nine fatal cases in the 2010 political unrest including Italian journalist Fabio Polenghi.

The court announced that Polenghi, killed at Sala Daeng intersection on May 19, 2010, was shot by a high velocity bullet from the direction of army personnel which was assigned to deal with violence in the capital at the order of the government at that time. (MCOT online news)

One shouldn't be critical, but the first Autopsy from 2010, the victim was shot, I am glad there was nothing else to be found , otherwise it might have been 2050, same time as the last payment for the 2.2tn loan.coffee1.gif

this is just one big joke, the police should have matched up bullets to rifles by now, especially if they belong to the army. If they are unable to do so then the bullets were not fired by the army, pretty straight forward really, the bullshit about the direction bullets came from means nothing, match the rifling on the bullets to army rifles as they are accessable along with the person that had it issued to him, if that cannot happen then they are climbing the wrong tree and need to look at the reds otherwise they should just shut up and leave it to someone that can do it properly and that will nit be anyone in Thailand.

Only took three years, not bad.

Maybe by 2020 they will know what gun the bullet came from. Of course I think we all know those guns will never be found, but it's fun to speculate.

What about he army officer killed by a grenade?

Will that be investigated or will it only be those that they think they can pin on the army and the Dems.

Rhetorical?

Can't rush these things, have to make sure all the ducks are in line.

As always - we know the answer so let's substantiate it with something.

If this is CSI Bangkok, I wonder if each episode will last this long?

The art of official explanations Thai style, say something on Monday, on Tuesday retract, alter or say no longer relevant, on Wednesday it's relevant again if appropriate and on Thursday propose setting up a committee. Forget Friday as it's too close to the weekend and there's probably a golf match.

and on the following Monday - get sued by someone for raising their name (who was / is completely innocent of course)

and the next day apologize to the Thai people, because someone lost all the evidence...

No wonder anything is resolved, it takes more than two years for this statement! T.I T

And the statement said? Very little information. Question: Another Sound Byte?

Yeah, three years and two months to perform the first autopsy? What, are they doing it blindfolded with chopsticks?

I may be wrong but I always thought that to do an autopsy you need a body.

Does this mean that the police still have all the bodies from 2010 stored away somewhere?

The alternative would be that an autopsy was done at the time and the autopsy report given to the police or whoever these things are given to for any action to be taken.

Now the police under PT control have dug up this and other reports and will now bring forth any that they think can be pinned on Abhisit and Co.

I'm not excusing that, but do note that the power of the state being used to kill civilians (if unarmed) is often considered to be quite different from the killing of military personnel. Look at the uproar in the US over the killing of American citizens by unarmed drones. The problem arises when an (elected?) government, which is supposed to protect the interests of the people, turns its guns on the people.

Sorry Docno you have been conned by the PT-red BS

The Govt did not as you put it "turns its guns on the people"

The red shirts shirts were rioting in an attempt to topple the govt.

They had an armed faction which had been shooting at and killing army personel

The Govt enacted an emergency decree in order to combat these armed rebels.

You must try to understand that if you attack an army with weapons of war, as the reds did, then you must expect retaliation in kind.

The reds were warned, pleaded with even to go home, but the leaders chose to ignore all warnings and indeed swore to fight to the last drop of blood.(someone else's blood)

In the end the only option left to the Govt was to clear them out by force.

It is extremely unfortunate that anyone was killed or injured but the responsibility for all those deaths and injuries lies solely with the red leaders and their paymaster

Well for one I wouldn't call it a murder case, but you are right- nobody cares.

Comes back to my belief that the Red Shirts do not have independent thought.

They are proud to be Red Shirts, but I'm sure if you asked them independently what they believed in, they would only have a few superficial answers.

Their leaders provide them with their beliefs. Another set of puppets?

Maybe like a lot of things here it's grossly overstaffed and they keep getting in each others way.

I think it's Abhisit and Suthep. The Dems have been forgotten and the army where never considered in the first place for obvious reasons.
