Where To Get Building Materials In Bangkok?

Recommended Posts

I am looking for somewhere to buy a piece of MDF (medium Density Fibreboard) and a piece of plaster-board.

I only need small quantities 600 X 710 X 40 MM MDF and 600 X 600 piece of plaster-board to make a couple of simple repairs in my condo.

Today I made an attempt at HomePro Rama III, they do not have such things (so Iwas told) When asking where to get it, they had no answer either.

I live in the Yannawa district of Bangkok.

I am not in a position to cut the material myself, so the MDF has to be cut to size by the people selling it to me.

Anybody any suggestions,

Thank you

Your best bet would probably be a work site that you see some at and have them cut you a piece. Most sales places are not likely to be keen on cutting for you (if they even have the ability) and am sure you will have to buy a full sheet. There are building supply stores on just about every soi that stock gypsum and lumber and they may also have fiberboard. There are also door/window fabricators that could cut it. But really think you might be better off hiring someone to do the repairs for you and let them worry about the logistics. Most hardware stores know workmen who can do small jobs.

Hi Lopburi 3,

Thank you for your reply and suggestions. In fact I already got my first experience , similar to what you suggested.

On my way home from Home-Pro on Rama III I happen to walk passed a shop front looking like they might sell the MDF. I went in, asked, do you sell MDF and showed a sample-piece. Reply, ....yes, have......

He took me to the right stuff and indeed it was what I needed. I then asked for a piece to be cut from this 8 X 4 sheet............................reply...............cannot cut and that was the end of the transaction.

I asked if they knew anywhere or anybody, but they did not..........

So, will keep on trying.

Your suggestion about getting a "man in" to do the job has struck my mind but with that too I have had mixed experiences.

Oh well.....keep on trying.....

Thanks again.
