Yes I think most people keep the defaults for that very reason. I found that when I used to put in extra posts per page, I was out of whack with others and was quoting/compensating for anticipated/actual page splits when unnecessary (and not doing so when it would have been helpful).

Drat, I'd forgotten about the display settings.

Well, this is my 1,000th post. Thought this an appropriate thread for this post.

What do we have to show for all those hours on TV responding to the ramblings of people supposedly saner than us ?

Flamed, grilled and ridiculed, hung up and pilloried for having the temerity to post. Howled down and laughed at by members who have less regard for feelings than the ocean has for grains of sand on the beach. Victimised by scammers and shammers alike, then hounded away for the circling hyenas to pick off at their leisure. Led into dark and blind alleys then abandoned with nary a glint to find a way out. Made to jump, fetch, beg, roll over and play dead for the amusement of anonymous masters. Sparred with then left bruised and bleeding by bullies and wimps alike. Souls ripped apart and egos trampled by the uncaring hoardes like a stampede of wild bulls. Values, beliefs and faith hit-and-run victims left for dead in the gutter by driven maniacs. Self-esteem inflated like a hot air balloon, set adrift then pricked with barbed acid tongues, plunging to the applause of an eager crowd. Sought entry to the temple of knowledge only to find a liar's den instead. Repeatedly made a fool by the fool's fool. Chastised for ignorance and derided for wisdom. Accused of being the same yet found guilty and punished for being different with no right of appeal. Convicted by an angry mob determined to see truth and justice banished with the light.

And yet, just when all hope for humanity seems to have faded to oblivion, someone says or does something humane and the balance of the universe is again restored.

And that was only what happened on TV yesterday.
