Chinese tourist drowns during trip off Phuket
Naraporn Tuarob

PHUKET: -- Chinese tourist Li Ran, 30, drowned June 18 while on a trip to Racha Yai island.

Pol Sen Sgt Maj Jirapat Navatong of Phuket Tourist Police told The Phuket News, “We understand he went into the sea on his own and was not wearing a buoyancy aid.

“He was carried off by a current. People saw that he was in trouble and tried to save him but the waves were strong and by the time they got to him it was too late.

“The body was brought back to Chalong Pier and was then taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for autopsy and to await arrangements for repatriation.”

I saw the tourist police, thai police, and ambulance at the pier yesterday offloading the body. Was wondering what happened. Big waves this week.

RIP Kuhn Li

Drowning is probably the worst way to go out after being burned alive. R.I.P!

have you tried both, or are you speculating?

by most accounts absent panic (watching the water in the car fill up to the roof, grabbing your last breath is horrific, once the involuntary breath of water has happened it is supposedly quite painless.

I would think swimming to exhaustion and finally slipping below the surface to oblivion, would not be so bad.

but i now, i speculate.

Yes I have heard that too, the pre panic is the worst part of drowning.
