Koh Samui: Just about to spend 10,000 baht on a laptop. Anywhere better than Tesco?

Featured Replies

Hey,

So I need to buy a laptop and have about 10,000 baht. It will only be used for word processing. I have to buy this today.

I have an SSD and a legal copy of Windows 7 already (but I guess I'll be buying the whole package in Tesco this fine)

Before I jump in and pull out my credit card, Are there any better shops I be going to?

Many thanks for any help!

Tesco at least has a 7 day return policy so if you buy and don't like you can return it.

I ordered from invade IT, they deliver to the islands and offer quality products for a decent price, good communication. I ordered an Asus for 10,000 but it does come without an OS, so you would need to install your own.

Cool, thanks for those replies :)

If anyone else knows a shop worth checking out in lamai or chaweng, please let me know

Go for Invade It! I am a loyal customer

Thanks to the power surges and useless surge protectors, I have bought a number of PCs and laptops on Samui over the years.

I have used CEC (traffic lights just south of Tesco Chewang), Banana IT, Big C etc. All have been ok - it is just down to price and spec.

Most laptops/computers come without windows and I always buy a legal copy (for the updates). All shops will load an illegal copy (for a price) but then you are stuck with extra software that you do not want and also the possibility of virus's, trojans etc. Windows was about 6,000 baht the last time that I bought it. It will save you money in the long run!

Good luck.
