Military chiefs 'happy' with Yingluck
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Military commanders are happy that the prime minister will double as defence minister, according to retired General Yuthasak Sasiprapha, the newly appointed deputy defence minister.

Yuthasak said yesterday he was assured of this by Supreme Commander General Thanasak Patimapakorn and Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Colonel Jaroon Ampha, an adviser to the National Security Council, said yesterday he believed Yingluck taking up the defence portfolio would help improve the situation in the insurgency-hit deep South.

"She could make direct orders that are up-to-date. It will be easier to solve problems in the South," he said.

However, opposition leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said he doubted the change would help improve the situation in the South.

He said the deputy defence minister would take care of the job for her. Abhisit added that he suspected the appointment of a deputy minister was just a way for the government to increase its presence in the ministry's top panel that decides on transfers.

And just what else would the "newly appointed" number 2 in-charge guy say....he/she will say exactly what the number 1 guy wants to be said.

A lot of empty-headed weak-dicked jokes aimed solely at Yingluck's being a female.

If the military are happy with the PM, whether male or female, it is not at all a good sign. Whichever country you come from, how would you react if the top military brass of your country came out and said they approved of the PM.??

If you can stop making jokes at her expense for one moment, try to think of the implications of this expression of military power.

Indeed Taffy. It's ok making jokes, but there are some serious undertones here. One person controlling the PM and DM role (ok, being told what to do by her brother). Now supposedly enjoying excellent relations with the top miltary officers. Hmmm, spreading the influence and control, reducing the likeliehood of adverse knee jerk reactions. Smoothing the way for what I wonder? Not good for Thailand if the military become part of Shin Corp.

Of course they are going to except her. she is what is known in some circles as an air head. They have no fear of her changing any thing just give her some more opportunities for Photo Ops. She will forget every thing else then.

Deputy Defense Minister affirms military willing to work with PM

BANGKOK, 2 July 2013 (NNT) – Deputy Defense Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapha has affirmed that the military will be willing to work under the supervision of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

According to newly appointed Deputy Defense Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapha, it is a good thing that the ministry is now under the supervision of Prime Minister Yingluck herself as all orders can now be given directly. All military top brass are willing to work alongside Miss Yingluck, the General said.

As for the ongoing violence in the restive south, General Yuthasak said if the Prime Minister decided to put him in charge, he would be honored to accept the task. However, it is likely that the Premier will transfer all national security matters to Deputy Prime Minister Police General Pracha Promnok.

General Yuthasak also reiterated that the government would not meddle in the military affairs, particularly the annual reshuffle of top military personnel. He, however, would hold a sideline meeting with all units to finalize the issue, before a committee on military reshuffles convened its meeting on July 25th.

The military should not have a role in politics, running the country or anything other than defence but they do because they have been given it by government and after government who want the guns on their side and now it's an expected way of life for the military.

Comparing Thailand with other countries is banal and a recipe for disaster. The original post is simple propaganda which is to be expected.

Check you history of this quasi demorcatic country and you will see that she desperately needs to establish who she can count on and who has to be transfered or annexed.

It is for politicaly covert reasons and nothing more as she has absolute zero experience, ability or appitude to handle this role. She herself has said she will not meddle, so the one in charge is saying to the military not to worry it is business as usual. Real leadership.

This is a covert appointment for political survival owing to the absymal performance of the PTP along with the apathy of the Thai public who seenm so swallow the bullshit they are given in daily doses and the desire of the weasle brother to get back to his treasure trove.

The Thai military could not fight their way out of a wet paper bag , however they are a most significant political tool.

For the most part I have to agree with you on your position.

How ever I don't believe she is as successful at getting the public to believe her Bull Sh-t now.

One other thing do you think there is a chance she might try to upgrade the color scheme of the uniforms?cheesy.gif

Correction: Yingluck Shinawatra and friends should not have a role in politics, running the country into the ground or anything other than shopping, but they do because they have bought that role time after time, and it's an expected way of life for most politicians here.
