Hi friends

I drove from bangkok to udon Thani yesterday night n when I reach udon Thani I saw the battery warning light on n I check my battery voltage it has drop to below 12 volts I still can start my car this morning But I think I won't be able to make it back to bangkok without making repair to my alternator

Any kind soul can direct me to a workshop or garage in udon thani to make the repair

I am driving a saab 9000CD 1995 2.0L light turbo

Many thanks

Charge the battery completely, during daytime without rain it should be good for a ride to Bangkok, if you do not use radio, wipers, etc. Remember the aircon, the ventilator takes on the electric, too... may become an unpleasant ride, but better than leaving the car somewhere. On the other hand, there are many shops with a sign "Dynamo" in front, that might be the right address.

Are you sure it's the alternator at fault and not the battery?

What voltage do you see at the battery terminals with the engine @2,000 RPM or so?

Thank for you reply

When to a shop in udon Thani to check n confirm alternation is the problem got a new alternation install

Paid 5700 baht for the new bosch 100amp alternation do know have If i overpaid or is the correct price

Shop owner told me they can repair the old alternation but need a day or so to repair n the cost will be just a bit cheaper

Many thanks n best regards

Any repair that gets you going is value for money :)

A 're-manufactured' 100A Bosch alternator is 4500 Baht on Amazon.com, the new ones on Ebay are scary numbers, I don't think you were too far off the mark.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Regulator is usually the problem. Cheap as chips. Re-Con alternators are a good earner as this is usually the fix. BUT, any price is good to get home. thumbsup.gif
