Looks like Alan Pya Road just north of the Parkroyal - or I could be wrong?

I'm guessing this was taken during the school pick up rush...

Anyway - anyone want to comment on Yangon's current traffic situation?

Nope, you're spot on! Must have been taken from that footbridge that crosses over to Yuzana Garden Hotel.

Traffic situation is just dire SVB. I see in the other thread the idea of motorcycles came up, I believe that if they were allowed here in Yangon it would just exacerbate the situation.

Sometime ago there was talk of 3,000 new buses, I wonder what happened to them? There was an article on here I believe from one of the news outlets talking of the Japanese mechanics coming to service/maintain them. New buses and stricter (enforced) traffic rules would go a long way to helping relieve some of the pressure. Buses and taxis are the problem, they just don't give a %&$# about anybody else and have no hesitation in bringing the traffic to a standstill so long as they get to go where they want to.

Machine guns mounted in my headlights and some rocket launchers would also help!biggrin.png

There was this article on mechanics having to re-tool and learn about the newer Japanese imports.

A friend was saying you can get a decent Alphard type van for around $10k US now. Prices have definitely changed a lot with the flood of imports.

On my last visit down to Thilawa port, there were thousands of recently unloaded cars waiting to be transported, but not a single bus that I can recall.
