Village chiefs to get smart phones

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The government is to provide all state officers with smart phones within the next three months to ensure improved communication.

Deputy interior minister Visarn Techateerawat said that the smart phones would be used for better and quicker communication and reporting of significant problems, such as the haze problem in the north and the unrest in the south.

The smart phones will be given to village chiefs, who will be responsible for reporting problems to deputy provincial governors, provincial governors or even the prime minister.

A smart phone is convenient to carry around and the Android system has applications that are both easy to use and understand. The overall budget will be about Bt50millon.

Visarn said that he had discussed with ICT minister Anudith Nakornthap the use of TOT numbers. He believes the Interior Ministry will be able to deliver all the smart phones within three months.

The on going and predictable examples used as reasoning for purchase of smart phones for 'all state officers' is a very long reach, for a short rake off of funds. The tablets, computers, smart phones, etc has about been run into the ground when handing in budget requests.

clap2.gif.pagespeed.ce.z5euFoXm0J.gif alt=clap2.gif width=31 height=25> Another deal which spoils the taxes, almost everyone has already one, besides two or three cars and the ones hasn't do not need one because they are incompetent with IT at all and reports a normal mobile phone slower than these smart phones, cheesy.gif.pagespeed.ce.HaOxm9--Zv.gif alt=cheesy.gif width=32 height=20> ! This government is better than any soap opera!burp.gif.pagespeed.ce.RBpw6FUyRR.gif alt=burp.gif width=42 height=36>

Bottom line:

1. Another budget for the trough players to get their noses into.

2. Vote buying at work.

3. We have a kumnan in our extended family, nice person, salt of the earth,

highly respected for sorting out local village problems. Her knowledge of the picture

is close to zero, she will welcome a smart phone like a broken leg.

"used to reporting significant problems, like the haze in the north and the unrest in the south"

So without the village chiefs reporting, it will go unnoticed ??whistling.gif

I you tell people not living here, about the measures by this government, they will think you are lying!

Wonder, who got the contracts for the phones? (No I don't really wonder, know already")

Would seem there is a good chance of an election on the horizon.

First more credit cards for farmers with better terms, now phones for village chiefs.

Would be better if they spent the money on schools but that would not win as many votes.

All the Pu Yai in the villages around here are all filthy rich, being the owners of rice warehouses and having their fingers in a lot of other pies so i wouldn't think they don't already have smart phones. No doubt they will still take the money though !

as far as i know most got em allready you do not get to be village chief by being a poor worker

they are mostly the ones with the many rai with sugarcane ,rice ,rubber

offcourse there is a village somewhere in the bush that has nothing

but as far as "civilisation " stretches they are all doing pretty well

I am sure that somewhere it will be written that this is a blatant and illegal use of tax payers money. A smart phone does not make a call any quicker than a phone costing 300 baht. This is vote buying at its worse. The budget of 50 million must be a lie. Even a basic low end smart phone at 10 000 baht would mean 5000 phones, and that is nowhere near enough for 'all the village chiefs'! These lot could be used to redefine the term 'scumbags' in the Oxford English Dictionary.

GJ, apparently, the word "scumbag" is not in the OED.

However, it may possibly be submitted as a "new" definition of a particular type of politician or someone of similar low character?

I would be very surprised if our village chief got one, we live in a very small village of 42 houses in the district of Mahachanachai from the Yasothon province, everything they promise never reaches us or surrounding schools.

What they will do with it?

Play games and watch porn with 3G speed.

No, they can connect it directly to the Village speaker system, so the red propaganda can be spawned more accurately to the uneducated
