PHUKET: -- Phuket City Police are rounding up teenagers from the streets of Phuket Town in the hope of apprehending the youngsters who have been sneaking up behind unsuspecting victims and slapping them on the back of the head.

The reports started flowing in last week, with people complaining that they had just been slapped – hard – by a teenager, Phuket City Police Chief Col Sermphan Sirikong told the Phuket Gazette this morning.

“About a week ago, we started receiving reports from Phuket City Municipality of a gang of male teens, about 16 to 17 years old, riding motorbikes and trying to hit street sweepers and people who went to exercise at Saphan Hin public park in Phuket Town,” Col Sermphan said.

“The teenagers ride up behind their victims, then slap them,” he added.

The attacks usually occur early in the morning, when few people are about, Col Sermphan said.

“Recently, we received more reports about this gang. They are now doing the same thing in other areas of Phuket Town, such as Phun Phol Road and near Surin Circle,” he explained.

“This morning, we brought in several teenagers suspected of carrying out the attacks, but we found out it was not them. We are continuing our search,” he added.

‘Bottom smacking’ teen gang caught by Phuket cops

PHUKET: -- A group of eight teenage hooligans were caught on Wednesday (July 24) after causing trouble by smacking the bottoms and heads of locals.

Pol Col Sermpan Sirikong, Superintendent of Phuket City Police told the Phuket News on Wednesday that acting on a complaint from a local, they went to find the gang of teens.

“They were acting silly towards other people, including the cleaners from the Municipality. The cleaners were sweeping the road and the teens rode their bikes along in a group and hit the bottom or heads of the workers, and upturned a trash can on their heads and laughed,” he said.

“We tried to trap them but when they saw the police, they would ride in the other direction. But we finally tracked them down this morning. They all admitted their guilt.

“All eight of them were under 20 years old, and therefore were sent to the Juvenile Observation and Protection Shelter.

“We have charged them with stealing motorcycles, physical assault and larceny.”

There were similar crazes in the UK. One really bad one was to cut people's backs with a craft knive and leg it before they noticed. Usually done very quickly in packed discos and pubs. Surprising how the victims all had a delayed reaction and most said the first thing they felt was "wet" from the blood. Most of the <deleted> caught doing this were under 20 too,
