compression stockings

Featured Replies

does any one know if compression stockings are available in Bangkok and where they can be purchased??

thank you

They are available. Try Boots or Watsons. Failing that the medical supply shops usually in large hospitals usually carry them.

Lefty

Try a range of Pharmacies (Boots, Watsons, Family pharmacies).

I was surprised to pick up a pair of good compression socks in Hua Hin (Pharmacy next to villa).

In the past I have also bought a pair from Boots at Suvarnabumi Airport. However, I've not seen any at Boots in the centre of BKK.

The Medical Supply shop at Bumrungrad or Samitivej may stock them.

Asked recently in the Chiang Mai Forum ... compression-socksstockings ... might be some useful information for you.

Interestingly, I saw them for sale when I flew AirAsia last week in the on-board catalogue.

If you are flying ... having had a DVT myself I also recommend an Asprin as it is a relatively safe, temporary blood thinner.

Indeed Davids thread is an eye-opener

My eyes were opened too late and I had a DVT a few years ago (at age 36).

Now as a precautionary measure I Inject with Heparin before a long (6 hr+) flight.

I take 83mg Aspirin daily.

I wear compression socks whenever flying anywhere I also wear the same type of compression sock after sport, if out on the beers all evening or if my legs feel a little fatigued

Regarding Sport: I find the compression socks really help. Much in the same way rugby players etc take an ice bath immediately after a tough game in dehydrating conditions, the Socks compress the capillaries preventing the build up of lactic acid.

Equally so, after a day on my feet I might wear the socks (when chilling in front of the TV), it helps those slight dull aches of the legs and ankles disappear more quickly

Rodknock ... 8 years ... that's a long time to be on Warfin.

I was on it (Warfin 5mg) for 6 months before progressing to the same as richard_smith237 and taking Aspirin 80mg.

Have you had your medication reviewed?

Just a thought mate.

Wish you well with managing the issues.
