Go Eco Phuket Attempts to Break Last Years Reef Cleanup Record - Volunteer Divers Needed

Featured Replies

Conservation group Go Eco Phuket (GEP), with the help of local governments, dive shops, divers, and schools, will be conducting it's second annual reef and beach clean-up. 13 dive boats have been donated or sponsored for the day to carry divers to area dive sites and beaches where rubbish, fishing nets, and other debris is known to have collected. Rubbish collected will be categorized according to IUCN standards to determine it's origin. As well, several mooring buoys donated by the Department of Marine Coastal Resources will be installed to discourage anchoring on reefs.

There is still space for more volunteer divers and beach cleaners. Any non-divers wishing to participate in debris documentation and beach cleaning or experienced divers wishing to participate in the reef clean up can email [email protected] or sign up via Go Eco Phuket's facebook page.
