Please don't get me wrong and assume that I would ever defend someone who has been convicted of a child porn crime (or any true pedo crime). But can we keep in mind that this person has only been accused -- not yet found guilty? Why should his image and name be plastered over the papers when he hasn't been proven guilty? The media does that all the time -- convict the accused to be guilty in the press before he has entered into the legal process. The truth is that once your name and image appear in the papers associated with these types of charges, terrible damage has been done even if it's proven you were not guilty.

Personally, if the guy is found guilty in an honest court of law, then I have no problem with making the public aware of who he is, where is lives, and any other private detail -- he's lost all rights to privacy. As a matter of fact, I don't care if they decide to have a public stoning, just like back in the days of JC.

Headline says producing, but he was found with DVDs.

It's very possible it's a set up, but, need a lot more info. Normally, when the coppers have confidence they spread the pictures everywhere.

As someone mentioned, if you now search the other arrested criminals names on Google, their names appear with paedophile in the search.

Anywhere else, they would sue instantly.

Every once in a while there is a story about underage Thai brothels being busted. Several years back once was raided in Nonthaburi - they had about 40 boys ages 10-15. They also had a ledger filled with the customers info...police, politicians, etc. There was one small report on it and then you never saw or heard anything about it again.

That is generally correct. Those of you who speak Thai and watch Thai news will know they are always talking about foreign pedophiles, and warning single moms that they are targets of these men, to have sex with their children.

Behind the happy smile face, many Thais do in fact think foreigners are sex crazed and often pedos. Of course, Thai men couldn't possibly be and they don't do such things, even though their bars are full of minors and they take 2nd wives. Strange view they have.

My Thai wife has related to me many stories of pre teen Thai girls being sexually abused by Thai teachers, religious leaders, parents, step parents, in fact almost every group within Thailand

This doesn't of course excuse foreigners who indulge in sexual activity with minors but there is almost a consensus within Thai society that under age sexual activity between adults and children is just another facet of Thai life such as reckless driving or corruption. Something that will always be present

But how does a deal like this take form? I mean, it must be more than one cop who is in on it, right?

And since a bunch of random expats on Thaivisa knows about these deals, that has to mean that thousands of other Bangkokians (citizens, officials, cops, (good cops?) knows about it too.

My point is: I just can't understand how a large group of people can be so godamn disgusting, and collectively (in silent agreement with each other) allow child porn and child prostitution to continue (ruining the lives of children), just so that those pigs can collect some tea money... ?

A pedophile technically is somebody who is after prepubescent children, so younger than about 12-13.
