I use FileMaker v.12. Have 6 databases located in on 2 different drives.
Computer is on 24 hours and I do a backup at 2 AM daily.
This morning I find every FM databases missing. Folders are there but content not.
Have run backup, but shows same empty folders so it would appear the the missing items occurred prior to the backup.

OS? You should probably stop using that machine right away, if you got a spare computer. If the files are deleted there is strong possibility that you overwrite them, this would make recovery impossible.

Start up one of your spare computers, install good data recovery software like stellar phoenix or similar.

Take the hard drive with the missing files out of the computer, plug it into a usb case

Plug the hdd into the computer with the recovery software

In case of stellar phoenix choose advanced scan, in file selection choose documents ( this will include .db files)

Run scan.

Back up the found databases onto your recovery computer.

put the hdd back into the original system.

transfer the database back.

Stellar Phoenix done the job. Thanks, No clues as to why FM files were deleted. Not in Rcycle Bin.
