What about fruits...I personally know:

pear

apple

matoom (bael or indian quince)

som (orange)

Anyone want to add to the fruit basket of names...

Noina (sweet apple - Australians would know it as a custard apple)

She's only half Thai ... brown on the outside, but white inside.

It's a camouflage trick.

BTW ... my stockbroker is named Miss Supaluk !

One of gf's best friends is named Miss Poo ... it's actually pronounced with a soft 'B' to start with Bpoo ... means 'crab' in Thai ... but I digress ...

Miss Supaluk, you heard it or saw it in writing :-) for SUDARUK is a Thai name

BTW ... i hope the newbies here know that these are just the Girls 'Nick Names' or 'Family Names' ... and don't actually appear (except in unusual circumstances ... there will always be one!) on the owners ID Card.

There is a good piece on Thai names by Dana over in the letters section of stickmanbangkok titled "Thai Thoughts And Anecdotes Part 122"

Is Tik a Thai female name? I can't say I recall any ladies named Tik in Thailand.

My sister in law is called "Cake" (correct spelling too - and named from the English) - her brother is Benz as in Mercedes.

I've know:

A, B, C, D, E, K, O, & P (although not spelled that way)

My all time favorite is Cartoon ... and, indeed, she was a real Loony Tunes.

And then there was Om, with whom I tried to reach enlightenment during climax by chanting her name.

And finally ... although a bit off subject: Most of us have seen many clubs throughout S.E. Asia, HK, PI, etc. named "Susie Wong" after the famous American movie about a HK prostitute. Well I came up with what I think is a great name for a katoy bar: Susie Slong.

Boom. That is a real name.

A ladies name? Just curious as the only time I have encountered it is as the nickname

of a friend's son.

Yes... I've known multiple Tiks here... My impression is, it's a not uncommon lady's nickname.

+1 ... Tiks abound.

"Poo" is very unfortunate. Imagine being in Farangland and someone asks out of curiosity what her name means in Thai and she replies, "Crap".

Yep a friend of my wife is called it although she writes in incorrectly in English as Bum.

These are all nicknames that their parents give them as well as the real name. The nicknames aren't male or female.

Edit: I'd better put most incase some actually are.

My buddy was dating a girl in BKK named "A". At the same time I was dating a Thai woman in the USA named "B". I then dated a girl in Bangkok named "One" while he was dating a girl named "Tu". We became extremely exhausted before we made it through the Alphabet.
