BANGKOK: -- The team behind Denmark’s Radios new TV series Veronicas Legacy is filming episodes that will be part of a the first season in Saraburi and Bangkok. Veronica’s Legacy is the follow up on their international success with The Killing and The Fortress.

Film Director Mads Kamp Thulstrup and Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, a young rising Danish star actor, are currently shooting five scenes of Veronica’s Legacy that take place in Thailand. The scenes will be part of the final episodes of the first season of the ambitious DR production. which will premier on Danish television in January 2014.

Second time filming in Thailand
It is not the first time the crew is in Thailand filming for the new super series from Denmark’s Radio. In December last year the crew was spending time at Khao Sok in Surathani in the south of Thailand also filming scenes for the series.

This time, the shooting is taking place at a resort in Saraburi and in downtown Bangkok – at Mezzanine bar and restaurant in Soi Rangnam, near Victory Monument and at an old former pre-trial prison on Viphavadi Road.

Mikkel Boe Følsgaard will be known to many from his stellar performances as Danish King Christian VII. in the movie “A Royal Affair”, which landed him an award for best male actor at Berlinale Film Festival 2012. Without revealing what Mikkel Boe Følsgaards character is going through in Veronica’s Legacy in Thailand it will definitely be a of high entertainment value.

Award winning director
The two episodes that Denmark’s Radio this time is shooting in Thailand are directed by the Mads Kamp Thulstrup. He has previously directed two episodes of another of DR´s series; Livvagterne (The Protectors) and the award winning documentary “Og Det var Danmark”, about the all-national Danish (Dynamite) football team of the 1980´s. It is his first time setting foot – and working in Thailand, but when he spoke with ScandAsias reporter he revealed that it would definitely not be the last time.

Well cast line-up
Veronicas Legacy portrays a family of four children coming to unbelievable amounts of money – and problems, after the loss of their mother, Veronica Grønnegård. After many years of separation the children rejoin to share, not only the heritage but also a journey into deceit, lies and unrevealed secrets.

Apart from Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, the impressive cast consists of, among others, Trine Dyrholm and Jesper Mikkelsen. Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, is the only main Danish actor in the sceneste that are being filmed in Thailand, with the rest of the performances being delivered by local Thai actors and extras.

Living Films is the local production company assisting Denmark’s Radio with the shooting in the land of smiles. Apart from working with Denmark’s Radio, Living Films have among other things earlier been involved in the production of Hollywood blockbuster Hangover 2.

Compressed program
The Danish crew is busy. In three days, including the day of their arrival, they have had to approve locations and do all the required shooting needed for the five scenes. It leaves little space for errors, but the crew is experienced and many of them have worked with this at Denmark’s Radio since Krøniken almost ten years ago.

In next months edition of Scandasia Magazine we publish an in depth portrait of director Mads Thulstrup where we among other things talk about his experience with filming on location in Thailand.
