I've pinched this idea from the Robert Elms show on BBC Radio London.

A listener will suggest two versions of the same song. Either the original and a cover or two different cover versions.

Other listeners then phone, email or text to say which version is better and, whilst no formal vote is taken, Elms will announce which one is the winner based on the comments received.

So, to start one of my favourite Who songs.

Now the cover; not the obvious Pearl Jam one. This is by Bettye LaVette.

My loyalty leans me to the original; but Ms LaVette gives a stunning performance; just look at the reactions of Townshend and Daltrey.

What do you think?

Please post your own Cover to Covers.

I prefer the Bettye Lavette . It comes from her album called 'Interpretations" and she covers mainly British 60's and 70's stuff. Was never a big Who fan.
