The ATR 72's are actually very safe planes (and Bangkok Air has used them on the route, too). The airline is basically Vietnam Airlines in disguise and finally there is an answer to the price-gouging done for years by BKK Air on this route. Go for it.

if the engines ever fail, because prop planes are designed for operation at slower speeds, they're better gliders. jets have to come in MUCH faster. engine failure = you're gonna be happier in a prop plane.
