refill Aircondition

After several problems with the air condition guys and fixing a variety of small problems myself, I start to refill Aircons.

I bought the set with the hoses and gauges and the R22 gas.

My questions:

Of course there are some micro leaks somewhere, else I wouldn't need to refill them every couple of months. How to detect them (beside the valves that are by purpose not fully screwed in, I found that already)?

The gauge tells on the low pressure side R22: -30, -20, -10, 0, +10, +20, +30.

Obvious if an aircon that almost doesn't cool anymore it is at -30 or -20. If I fill it slightly below 0 it works perfect again.

Something more I should know about it, or is that all?
