I have no idea about Hep C treatment in Thailand.

As a general rule a person with Hep C would require a full evaluation undertaken by a Hepatogist (Dr who specialises in liver disease).

If following this evaluation it is determined that treatment would be beneficial then treatment in the form of anti viral medication is available ( Once again I do not know if it is available in Thailand.)

The cost of treatment is very high and most insurance companies will insist on pre approval.

Unfortunately I know all this :(

And I know that some clinics in Bangkok that cure Hepatitis C very well and quickly.

I just thought if someone knows the subject and the cost of total treatment.

Because in my country the price for treatment is 25.000-35.000 USD

BNH has a very good liver department. Treatment after diagnosed Hep C and the genotype, if 1a the most common in USA and also the hardest to cure. It takes 48 weeks ,once a week Interferon injection, 3x2 pills of Ribvarin.

Success rate depending on genotype above 50%.costs involved around 10000 baht a week. I hope you are insured if you have to carry the costs by yourself make contact to the manufacturer here in Thailand they have an office here. 40% discount to hospital prices you can ask your doctor for contact. Get tested result after 3 weeks. Get treated or you risk liver cancer which is one of the most painful cancers. Good news new developed medication is in the channel and available by 2015. Don't wait!

I am already a client of BNH but in different department. Good news that they have good liver department!

I got genotype - 2, low viral load now.

So wait until 2015 or now start Pegasys + Ribavirin?

Perfect as you are anway BNH patient go to the Gasto Unit for further advice on your case. Don't wait! do it for yourself and others. I have to correct myself in regards of the discount meanwhile BNH reduced the prices for the medicine so that the gap between buying from La ROCHE or BNH is melted to a lower percentage discount also you can pay BNH bills by credit card.Which you can't with the sales leg of La ROCHE. Additional positive for La ROCHE they deliver within three days no matter how remote your place in Thailand might be. Again don't run around with a virus if you don't have to. Liver transplants are rare! And cost 10 times the treatment now.

In addition to all that you should take milk mistle products like SAMARIN and ESSENTIAL Forte. To help your liver. Most important get your appointment with the Doc soon.

In Canada & the USA they combine Interferon & Ribavirin with a drug called Boceprevir. This is for Hep C type 1. Depending on your load counts at certain times determines how long you stay on the treatment it can either be 24 or 48 weeks. the Boceprevir is taken for 24 weeks regardless as to how long the treatment is for. the success rate adding this 3rd drug is substancially higher than just the Interforon and Ribovirin alone. Im not sure if this drug has made it to Thailand yet.

Hi tgv,

I don't know which country are u coming from, but If the new drug combination is available and the cost are bearable for you I would like you to consider treatment at home as the currently available treatment in Thailand of Ribvarin & phygasis for 48 weeks is quite something to chew on.

If you have the resources better get treated by the latest standards back home.

A friend of mine just finished up the treatment in the US he got on to Obumer care early and his drugs were not to expensive about 600 a month. Sorry I do not know the drugs but I could find out for you from him, he has been virus free since jan. Pm me aand we can exchange emails make it easier. Alpha Lipoic Acid is a very good vit. to take for liver issues, it is what they give to folks who have a reaction to paracetomol.
