Does anyone know a specific place in the Hang Dong area that make pots and will make them to your design?

If it's terracotta you're after there's a small village on the right hand side of one of the big intersections on the way to Hangdong from town. The huge red pot at the front gives it away.

you can get them done in CNX, but lampang is the largest source for manufacturing, thats what lampang is known for.

there are a few tourist trap places in lampang which are ceramics factories, tour buses go there...you should check them out first, the selection is huge.

Thanks for the useful info, I'm looking for elegant artistic ceramic serving platters at least 35cm diameter for use in fine dining, so bland or tacky designs are ruled out. Any advice?

About 10km before Lampang city you will see a ceramics factory on the right hand side of the main road from Chiang Mai called Quality Ceramics. They have a decent selection of classical designed dinner services in whites and creams with silver gold touches... elegant

If you are wanting more colour, very artistic one off hand made pieces and money isn't the main concern, you could try Prempracha in BorSang, they mostly do large vases but you could commission something there, it's not too far from Chiang Mai either. Definitely not bland or tacky.
