September 20, 201312 yr When I got my Yamaha WR450 years back from my buddy, he had a lot of upgrades and modifications done on it, I couldn't even remember everything he had done so at the 1st oil change I discovered this filter. I replaced it with k&n filter but kept this meaning to ask someone. Its been in the shed for years and I was going through some stuff today and found this. Still looks shiny and new, it made of some sort of steel mesh, looks like a high flow performance filter of some sort. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
September 20, 201312 yr Hi Those are re-useable oil filters.Clean them out with petrol / brake cleaner etc, gently blow them out with air line (or allow to evaporate overnight)then use again. Can be used many times BUT not if the wire mesh/gauze becomes damaged.
September 20, 201312 yr Author Thanks a bunch! I thought it might be a re-usable filter, good I didn't trow it out, should have asked this question years back and save on filters.
September 20, 201312 yr It is probably a Pure Power Lifetime Oil Filter, which is high end and expensive. They get great reviews. Supposedly increases horse power because of less flow restriction (I doubt the HP claim) and filters the oil better that disposables. I have one and like it. It is a pain in the ass to clean, but keeping a clean oil filter is more important than changing oil - especially if you use 100% synthetic. With this filter, you can clean it often and save on oil (synthetic does not break down like mineral oil). You can see it at this link: http://gopurepower.com/ You can Google for reviews.
September 21, 201312 yr Author Doesn't look like any of those on their web site so must be another brand, similar type. It's going back in the next oil change.
September 21, 201312 yr Author Not sure what fits Forza, it is from Yamaha wr450. I can look for a Yamaha oil filter PN in the bike's manual, but I doubt they are the same parts as from Forza.
September 21, 201312 yr They're an excellent filter, but to clean one to the point that under a microscope there is no contaminants is with an Ultrasonic bath, using either kerosene or an ethylene type solvent.
