Old Farangs are Losers

Why does this concept always come up on TV....old farang = loser.

Age doesn't make a bloke a loser and I'm pretty positive that there are a swag of farangs on this site that are over 50.

I've met some absolute losers in every age bracket but the majority of blokes are either hard working or lucky enough to have earnt their retirement or holidays to Thailand.

The way I see it the old farang who gets to live out his retirement in LOS, have a few beers, enjoy life bloody well deserves it. And if they happen to meet a younger lass and both get something out of it then bloody good for them.

I am sure we are all happy for you but being a loser is who you are, not what you have. Lots of rich losers because they are unpleasant and arrogant, lots of poor winners because they are happy and decent people. I am sure you are rich and happy.

As for the stupid headline, Try to take a look in the visa section with posters asking "I have 5000 in my savings account, how can I stay another year?" Or the most popular thread i general topics: "How to survive on 100 baht a day" Who are active on those threads? Yes you guessed it! Younger farangs!

I would say that getting old requires a certain amount of skill, more so than luck. To move to a strange land at an advanced age, and then to survive and thrive, anyone able to do that should never be labeled a loser.

I'm old, though, so I would thank all that.

I never thought older farangs were losers. Just the oposite. If someone can retire earlier and enjoy life in Thailand in my eyes he is a winner.

Being old and living in Thailand does not make you a loser but there are plenty of people in Thailand who certainly have not been winners throughout their lives.

A lot of the older blokes on here like to talk down to the younger ones saying we should be back home making the most of our opportunities and making money while young (they just don't understand we actually are and don't need to be at home), that we must be living substandard lives out here because we aren't spending 100k a month etc as if they think we're the losers

Times have changed no need to slave away for 60 years at home and wait until you're retired to go abroad and enjoy life. We're winning now.
