Santorini Park Cha Am

CHA-AM: -- If you’re travelling south from Bangkok, perhaps to the seaside resorts of Cha Am or Hua Hin, then you can’t miss one of Cha Am’s newest and biggest tourist attractions. The Santorini Park, which is located on Petchkasem Road, just before the turn off for Cha Am Beach, is a cross between a boutique shopping outlet and an amusement park.

Be aware of the dangers when visiting this or any other amusement park in Thailand. After a bungee cord snapped just before launch recently the operator of the park said this:

"The operator of Santorini Park in Cha-am said on Wednesday its G-Max Reverse Bungy amusement ride, which malfunctioned seconds before it was due to activate, was imported from New Zealand and the manufacturer had already sent people to inspect the equipment.

According to the Santori announcement, Thailand has no specific laws on amusement equipment. Therefore, the Santorini Park operator had asked for a building and building modification licence from local authority.

"The amusement machines and buildings at Santorini Park meet international standards," the company statement said."

If the cord had snapped seconds later (after launch), it could (probably would) have resulted it the death of the rider.

That place is the biggest tourist trap imaginable - paying an entrance fee to visit a <deleted> hot outdoor mall? And pay for the (what 2- 3?) rides separately. Head to the water park instead...

anyone know how much entrance to the waterpark is? there is no info on their website :(

I don't know the fee as haven't been there but just an FYI another water park is being built just past the small Tesco Lotus on Petchkasem road south of the flyover in the Takiab area. From the area they have construction fence around it looks like it will be pretty big. I think the Black Mountain one is pretty expensive so maybe this one will have lower prices and give it competition.

Entrance is TB 50 / person BUT for all attractions you have to pay separately which can be costly if you have a family with children.

hahahahaha, TiT :)
