German Family Is Arrested For Operating Porn Web Cam Business In Pattaya

Bangkok Police shut down suspected pornographic webcam business in South Pattaya. German family is arrested.

We joined Police Lieutenant General Tawonsak, Deputy Commander of the Office of the Inspector-General and his team as they conducted a raid on house number 844/37 at the Holiday Paradise Village inside Soi 17, South Pattaya. Acting on a search warrant, they entered the house owned by Mr. Cornilious Gerd aged 42 from Germany. He was accused of running a pornographic internet webcam site from the house which employed Thai women.

Inside the house Police seized nine computers, two laptop computers, 8 webcams and a selection of sex toys. Also in the house at the time were four Thai women, thought to be employed as webcam hostesses. They were arrested along with Mr. Gerd, his wife and family. Back at Pattaya Police Station, Mr Gerd denied allegations of running the webcam business and claimed that his only business interest was a local car rental company.

Despite this, he has been charged with a variety of offences relating to pornography and is now behind bars awaiting his court appearance. Senior Officers at Pattaya Police Station are now under the spotlight as questions are sure to be asked as to why this case was not dealt with by Pattaya Police and needed a high ranking Police Officer from Bangkok to make the arrest.

Who would have thought this sort of sleeze went on in pattaya. You see the local plod on the beat all the time looking for people who could be involved in prostitution or similar vices. They rarely seem to find any however which must show how thin on the ground these sort of activitys are in pattaya.

I think they've done a dam fine job today and am even considering taking my mother there this summer, now that the town has been cleaned up, top to bottom by the big men from bangers!!

i believe that there is now a police department in bangkok that will look into any complaints by locals about the police in their area.

if you report a crime to your local police and they do not or will not follow it up , or ask for special favours then you can contact these special bangkok plods who , if they think the crime or the complaint warrants it , will get involved.

The moral of this story is to pay your "webcam hostesses" a decent wage, and not peanuts. That way they don't go home to Bangkok and moan to the local BIB about it.

as far as i know , it has been well publicised in the thai press since it was set up last year or the year before. they will intervene when they suspect that a police station is not carrying out its duties properly.

the dog only speaks german if it is a german shepard (teutscher Schaeferhund)

of course they must arrest the dog. Usually the dogs try to make an inocent face with hanging their tongue out of their mouth, but 90 % of all german shepards are Nazis.

well all i can say there are far more serious crimes happening in pattaya they should be spending there time on, to go to the trouble of arresting a guy making a living and employing thais to just do web cam's.

I am pretty sure that the posession of "pornographic or lewd material" is illegal in Thailand.

Far from it in fact. Along with prostitution, creation and possession of pornography is illegal. There have been numerous stories of people being busted for such things.

One I remember involved a farang that had agreed to pay a Beach Road freelancer 3,000 baht, if she would let him film them having sex. Afterwards he apparently only gave her 1,000 baht. She got her boyfriend to come over and beat the farang up. The police were called, and when they checked his computer, they found more images of him having sex with other women. He was charged with being in possession of pornography.

I'm not sure how pornography is defined here. You can buy the Thai version of Penthouse and other magazines legally. They are not allowed to show pubic hair though. Perhaps R-Rated is OK, but X-Rated gets you arrested ?

It's generally ignored unless another crime takes place (i.e. a prostitute robs a john), or certain people don't get "financial incentives" to look the other way.

They can't legalize it for moral reasons, and they are reluctant to crack down on it for financial reasons. Better to look the other way and pretend it isn't happening, rather than risk large amounts of tourism dollars flowing into neighbouring countries. (Not too mention that it is quite popular amongst the locals as well in some areas. Not all of the trade is aimed at just farangs).
