Mystery surrounds an apparent suicide case from Third Road Hotel.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutum from Pattaya Police Station was called to the J A Villas on Pattaya Third Road after hotel staff reported a man who had just fallen from one of the hotel balconies. At the scene, Police inspected the body of Mr. Craig Hulme aged 30 from England. He was lying in front of the main entrance and was known to be staying in room number 504 on the 5th Floor.

Beside his body was a friend who did not want to speak with us but was clearly distraught at what had happened. Inside the man’s room was a bottle of beer on the balcony and according to telephone records, his last call was made to England, just a few hours before the incident. He had gone out and returned to his room just 15 minutes before he fell from the Balcony. Although any motive for a suicide is not yet known, the possibility of a third party being involved in the case has not been discounted.

Police tell us that they expect the call made to England may have something to do with the case and they believe he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fall. The British Embassy in Bangkok have been informed.

No - I am in no way speaking about a particular individual. Merely a cross section of folks that I have met who choose to have made their nest in Pattaya. Now, this is really going to annoy a lot of readers : Most of these seem to be people that cannot cut it in any society that they cannot buy.

In no way am I having a go at Pattaya, personally I can't stand the place but it exists and it exists to make Thais money.

Many years ago I told a guy - of a certain age and who had been a tourist of the sex variety to many countries- that when the hook was got in in Pattaya then they'd use him up and spit him out.

A good friend who was born and bred in Pattaya tried also to convince him that it was a wrong choice.

Said chap lost the lot and now relies on benefits back in the U.K.

Pattaya exists on prostitution - that is the whole raison de etre and be honest, if there were no tarts there then how many visitors would actually visit the place?.

[/b] The seafood and people are carefully researched over a goodly number of years as resident for nine years (not in Pattaya) and still continuing with about six months a year in country.

Having been lucky enough to work in a lot of countries over the years one does tend to observe one's own race in foreign surroundings and not always with any pride.
