Does anyone know if anyone is showing it-Cable or otherwise? I'm in Chiang Mai, the local cable firm-WETV have been showing the Super league while Setanta do likewise with the NRL but no mention, on either, of any coverage of this tournament. Does anyone know if it's on anywhere in the LOS or are people here going to follow it on the internet?.

Nice one Street Cowboy. I'll check the wiki link and let us know about Astro. It'll be interesting to look at the Burgess boys, Tomkins, Mossop, etc in the England side.. Let's hope it's closely contested tournament. Otherwise next time Qld and NSW can go as separate teams/countrieslaugh.png

My focus will be on the group stage, and getting to Hedingley for a game against the Kiwis.

It's a shame Sonny Bill Williams won't be turning out for the Kiwis. it would have capped a perfect season with the chance of duel codes World cup winners medals but it seems he is going back to The Chiefs and 'Super Rugby' Oh well, plenty of other great Kiwis to look at.

SONNY Bill Williams will remain with the Sydney Roosters next season after the New Zealand Rugby

Union failed in its attempt to lure him back across the Tasman in 2014.

FSD_1110_SONNY_BILL_WILLIAMS_REJECTS_NZR

Williams, who won the Jack Gibson medal as the Roosters' player of the year, was a late inclusion in

New Zealand's 24-man squad for the upcoming rugby league World Cup after it was originally thought

he was returning to rugby.

The NZRL released its squad on Monday with the dual international not named, but a change of heart

saw the Kiwis embarrassingly drop Melbourne Storm forward Tohu Harris when Williams' availability

became clear.

Let's hope that's bad news for Scotland, who may meet NZ inthe QFs, all being well.

Found this:

Setanta will not be broadcasting the Rugby League World Cup as we do not have the rights to this competition. Setanta will be broadcasting every NRL game and State of Origin game live next season, plus the remainder of the NRL Finals series live. Thanks SetantaSportsAsia

Then maybe Eurosport? They got a share of the Challenge Cup from the BBC, I think. Their Superleague comes from Sky

The original was too big for my screen.

Do you know what the seedings were? Are the fourth teams in pools A & B ranked higher than the first teams in pools C &D? I'm guessing not, as they have a veritable mountain to climb, while the teams in pools C & D just need to be the best of a bunch of no-hopers...

Warm-up games start this weekend.

England play Italy at Barton-on-Irwell

Scotland play Papua New Guinea at Featherstone

New Zealand play Cook Islands

France warm up against USA

I don't know what other games are on and my friends at the BBC are not being particularly helpful

^^ Say it isn't so!

BTW ... if bonobo is not watching ... the Rugby game between the KIWI's and the Aussies this afternoon was of the highest order. Truly an exciting game.

Bit I digress ...

That's pish, bytheway, boys.

Only the opener Wales - Italy is on live BBC TV / radio, except for the England games; I suppose at least our emerald friends get England v Ireland. I suppose the BBC have difficulty getting an outside broadcast van to Workington, but you'd have thought they might cover Scotland - USA at Barton-On-Irwell. I'm not one for carping, normally, but <deleted> English Broadcasting Corporation etc etc. No wonder the boys back home are all voting Nationalist. Though I doubt Alba showed any interest whatsover....

Let's hope Eurosoport have full coverage. I remember watching Scotland - Lebanon, live from Anniesland Park, in front of a crowd of literally people on a cold October afternoon (warm October evening for me, miserable, dreich and drizzly afternoon for them) from the Dublin Arms in Dubai in the European Cup. You might recall that coverage of the previous World Cup in 2008 set a standard that surely few could underpass. I had to listen to our first World Cup win (against Fiji) on the "latest scores" page of the BBC; at least this year they are promising live text commentary....

Scotland 20 - 38 Papua new Guinea confirms their respective seedings, while Englnd Knights remind Samoa of the mountain that they have to climb.

Roll on next week, and the real games!

The biggest surprise of the week surely is Italy's shock win over England 15 - 14 with a Mantellato drop goal sealing a dismal rain-soaked afternoon for England under thundery skies at Barton-on-Irwell.

I've never seen the new stadium there, but I can imagine dismal thunder and heavy rain over the ship canal...

England faces Australia in the first-up match.

I'm usually confident of an Australian win in Australian conditions ... but less so in the cold English mud.

SC, should Scotland get knocked up (like Mod) ... sorry, that should be knocked out in an early round ... who do you cheer for then?

I'll probably cheer for England. I think we will meet them in the Semi-Finals.

SC ... I'm surprised, given your nature, I thought you might have taken the compassionate route and have backed a Team like the Papua New Guinea Kumuls ?

That's why I would support England... No point in supporting a team that goes out in the Quarter-Finals, the same as us...

I've checked my satellite schedule, and Eurosport are not carrying the games, but they are on Astro Supersports 3; not live, but at the more convenient time of Sunday afternoon; I'll need to make a point of not checking the score when I'm in the pub on Saturday night, or first thing Sunday morning. I suppose I could listen on the wireless live...

I can't check my Internet TV link from the office, so they might be live on the internet, but since it's not Scotland playing, I'll be quite happy to watch Saturday's games on Sunday afternoon. I've got loads of Heineken Cup games to catch up on, or I'll record some Top XIV if I'm short of things to do on Sunday morning.

The Rugby League Powers have definitely knocked on and failed dismally in the promotion of the game at international level. I'll probably watch it on some dodgy stream or even the Irish pub in Chiang Mai for some of the games. i would like to see how PNG get on, as it is the national game over there but looking forward to the English players from the NRL coming back and playing in different conditions.

It's in Wales under cover.. I'll be there. Unfortunately, I didn't realise West Ham were at Swansea the next day when I bought the train tickets or I would have spent the whole weekend in South Wales.

It was even worse in 2000, though it wasn't helped bya record wet spell. I remember watching England v Australia at Twickenham and being drenched from the queue outside and freezing.
