Good quality speakers for a laptop

I have an ACER 4740G laptop. It has an HDMI port and is labelled as Dolby Home Theater. It can output digital audio S/PDIF. I want to be able to watch videos on a 41" LCD TV but listen to the sound from speakers connected to the computer through S/PDIF.

Can anyone recommend a good speaker system to use? I live in Chiang Mai. Where would I be able to buy such a speaker system?

Sugget having a look at a Fiio D3 converter (Cheap and works well) and say a pair of Audioengine A2 active speakers (they get good reviews)

I was in Amorn yesterday and saw they had quite a few audio systems (amp + speaker) that looked good quality (did not listen) for under 4000 baht. The S/PDIF is high quality input to the amplifier so should be simple setup. SImilar systems also at Lotus and Big-C.

Connected an outdoor waterproof WiFi speaker system ( Electo DSS-35, max. distance 150 meters ) to a laptop. Maybe they're also available somewhere in Thailand. Did not pay more than € 20.
