In the last few days I have noticed a real slow down to almost stop of 3BB internet services. Their service is disintegrating. I constantly get 10 to 20 times a day "This Page Cannot be Displayed". I get the same wording when trying to do a speed test and even when trying to open my browser. When deleting items on my Gmail account it takes forever and the word loading appears at the top for what should be a fast simple process. Gmail sent me a message saying that I have Network Communication issues. When calling their service number you are left cooling your heels listening to canned music while your mobile bahts burn up. I tried and finally got through to their web site after receiving numerous "This Page Cannot be Displayed notices. The lights constantly flicker on my modem which I think represents slow or poor connections. Have they sold more subscriptions than they can provide reasonable service for?? Is TOT a better service. Any help would be appreciated

no problems at all with 3BB in sansai, right near Meechok Plaza..keeps chugging away...

what i have noticed is that i sometimes get a "chrome cannot find" notice on a webpage, but

if i open Firefox, the page opens... and will still remain inaccessible with Chrome... so i don't

know what to say about that.... have you tried different browsers?

Nothing wrong with 3BB in general. I have had excellent service from them for many years. Occasionally I might experience problems as you describe - three months ago for example. One call to their call center and a technician was straight back to say that there was definitely a weak signal to my home. That afternoon technicians arrived, quickly figured that there was nothing wrong with anything on my system or home connections and went off tracing the line. Fifteen mins later they were back. Found a physical problem some way off, had fixed it and all fine agin. fast service with a smile.

Point of this long explanation is that 3BB have a great service but weather conditions, accidents or other unforseen events can physically disrupt the service sometimes. It might be very local and only you or a few affected. Let them know and they'll fix it.

I believe they are having some trouble with DNS. If your service is patchy will lots of pages unavailable, try changing to (or from) Open DNS. Instructions can be found online.

Worked for me.

From reading the OP post it sounded to me like more than just a personal thing. When you can't get through to the service department it is an indication that they have over sold the service or have a problem with there equipment. I have 3BBB because it is free and it is reasonable but there are times when I can play a game of solitaire waiting for it to load up.

Being some what the impatient type guy I also have an AIS air stick which will occasional disconnect but can be reconnected rather quickly.

It is my believe that none of them are that good. They may work great but sooner or later they are going to oversell the product.

Not my field but is the Government limiting their ability to bring in high speed service at all times? It has been 7 years here now and I have seen a tremendous improvement in the service but still no where near as good as the speed and reliability I had in my little town of 100,000 in Canada.

I have never had a problem getting in contact with 3bb support. Often replies within hours of notifying them on the internet. Actually, it has been faster for me to contact them on the internet than calling their support line.

My service from 3bb has been excellent as well as the connection.

I have used government sponsored 3bb WiFi (ICT) and since switched to True Free ICT because the coverage is much broader for me.

I have had much better luck using 3bb's DNS servers than any other DNS servers.

Woke up this morning, selected 3 torrents, download speed averaging 1.2MiB/s.

The basic 631bht 3BB service is great, been on it for nearly 3 years now in two locations, no problems.

Are you on the 590 THB / 10Mbps plan ?

I inherited this line from my previous tenants. I can't reach them right now, but the bill is of that amount. I am also only getting 1 Mbps. My torrents can never go above 120 KBps downloads combined.

Went to 3BB to get the username/password information (that was saved in the router), and the letter says it is the 6 Mbps line. I am confused, was it upgraded somewhere along the line?

With the account number, I cannot login to their website. It says customer group "Business" not allowed or username incorrect. No idea why. Site is mostly in Thai, so not sure how to contact them except through their call center, and that can be a frustrating affair.

thanks

Matt

he is getting over download speed of 1.2megabyte per second not 1mbps(megabit per second), which is about right for 10mpbs. torrent is a bad way to judge, since it wildly depends on your settings, number of seeders, location of seeders etc etc

easiest way is to head over to speedtest.net to do a test, although it is on a basis of local servers. but still a good way to determine your max dl speed if you arent certain

iirc the old 590 plan is 6mbps, and it should be upgraded. u cant login to 3bb with your account number, u need your username which is different from the account number

I am indeed getting 1 Megabits / second. I did the speedtest earlier.

There is a page on 3bb's website that only needs your account number (http://www.3bb.co.th/3bb/member/cust_login), they even have a sample of the bill to show you where to find it. Still doesn't allow me to login. I also have the username, can't login either. Possible that the tenants changed the original password and 3bb only got records of the original one.

Is there a limit before they throttle even further?

Maybe I'll drop by one of the 3bb booths.

thanks

Matt

The customer login site referred to you have to sign up for?

EDIT: That page referred to worked for me with the 3BB Member Single Sign-On, which I received an email from 3bb to activate.

I notice there is a PDF (http://www.3bb.co.th/3bb/assets/3bb/default/docs/3BB_SSO_Register_Manual.pdf) that shows you how to sign up for it. Problem is that I can't get past step 3, the password is not valid it seems. Can't make out what is wrong given the error message.

I already had a member account for a couple years. That is how I got the email. I believe I had to provide my passport number to activate the User Single Sign On. The online account from a couple years ago I don't remember what I did, but I am sure I had to verify something.

st11x,

After thinking about this, it could be that I was notified by mail and not email about the Member Single Sign on. Either way, I am sure I had to verify myself as the account holder to activate the Single Sign on.

I think your idea to contact 3bb directly is a good idea. I have had pretty good luck at the 3bb office at Central Airport Plaza in Chiang Mai. Contacting 3bb on their web site has been the best for me. I contact them on the Support link, tech_call messaging on their web site.

I signed up last week. In step 3 you are choosing a password, mine is a mixture of numbers and letters, all lower case. What error message are you getting?

I already used the customer portal to pay my 3BB bill using my UK debit card. :-)

I think that a well-seeded torrent is an excellent way to test your line speed, as are segmented ftp transfers.

I had loads of problems a couple of weeks ago and speeds are always bad in the evenings until midnight...for instance, my ftp transfer just jumped from 300KB/s to 1.6MB/s. (I'm also near Meechook Plaza)

I find their customer service, in common with other ISPs, to be truly awful. They claim not to shape traffic, which is a blatant lie, and when I complained about the length of time it was taking them to investigate a fault, they basically blamed me for calling quite late in the evening. I had to explain that the problem occurred in the evening so I could hardly have called any earlier.

How do you choose a password in step 3? It is asking for the account number and a password under "Confirm Account No". I just entered the account number and the password printed on the welcome letter but it didn't work. I am getting the error message like this.

I think I'll have to wait for my wife to go with me to 3BB (easier to explain in Thai), or the tenant to give me the password as I think they had already registered and also changed the password.

In the panel above enter the account number from your bill in both boxes. This then takes you to the form where you can choose your username and password.

Did that first, same error. So I tried with the password they gave me. The form is a little confusing, the label says confirm account number but the text in the box says password.

In any case, I tried both and it didn't work. I even tried a combo with the username you used to login to their service (in the router), that didn't work too.

It's definitely the account number, not service number, twice. I spoke to a very helpful man at the service centre called dtom who walked me through it. It's possible if the previous owner of the connection had already registered that account then it won't let you proceed.

I also got a confirmation email sent to me one I had completed the next step.
