Aussie TV in CM.

Featured Replies

G'day all.

A couple of good mates in Pattaya have excellent cable, satellite TV that provides Aussie coverage of many sporting events. I'm mostly interested in NRL, rugby league & other sport. Up to date news coverage would also be good.

Anyone able to offer info on what's available, if any ?

Thanks in advance.... Mal.

True Vision have sports via the Setanta channel. I get to watch NRL, Rugby Championship, ITM Cup rugby and other games from around the world. Depending on the package selected you can also see American Football, Ice hockey, Gallic football, soccer, boxing, UFC and others.

Personally I dont give a toss about soccer but the other sports are good to watch.

If in the city you can watch vitually any of these at the Down Under Bar which is by the Iron Bridge on the Ping River and also close to the River Market restaurant. Stu is the Aussie owner of the place and a damn good guy. Always busy as hell when the finals are on... good tucker too!

Just for those that are not sure where the Down Under Bar is.

It is just down the road from the Demolished Downtown Inn Hotel.

East of the Berger king at the Night Bazar

It's just past the hotel on the right that isn't there anymore. I've been waiting to say that for years.

Truevisions has the Setanta channel, as you now know, and Australia TV (for news and AFL) Is available on CTH. It was on WETV, but seems to have disappeared, just like the hotel. By the way, Downunder Bar has a very good illuminated sign that is visible from the intersection of McDonalds/Burger King, just look up the Loi Kroh rd towards the river.

I just noticed that Australia TV is still on WETV! In case you don't know, WETV is the agent for CTH in Chieng Mai so they can both be subscribed to at their office in the old city.

Get Broadband internet and a Roku 3 or Apple TV.

I can't remember this bar at all. Is it on the same side as the hotel but further toward the iron bridge?

Not as such, it is on the same side as where the hotel no longer is, toward the iron bridge. It was the Thirsty Beaver before it became Downunder Bar.

So just to make sure everyone has it now.......from the McD, Burger King intersection of Changklan/ Loi Kroh Rd head towards the river , past the Hofbrauhaus that is now closed, past the Red Lion that isn't, past the Downtown Hotel that isn't there anymore, on the right, and then about another 50 metres on the right is Downunder Bar.

Never been in the place but walk by it often. Seems like a friendly bunch in there and often some one sitting next to the window will say hello. Not a big sports fan.

OK got it now . Thanks guys.
