I really hope so, that was my most favorite thing in CM, something logical and actually for pedestrians, cross the river to Wat Ket.....

The signs say that the bridge is out temporarily and apologies are made for the tardiness in building a new bridge, but the bridge is to be built soon. I couldn't read the last sign (the white one with black letters) because it's too far from the camera to read clearly. wai2.gif

Permission has been received from the CM municipal authorities to build the bridge. wai2.gif

Your photo's still rather fuzzy and I don't know all of the words, but here's what I could read:

Announcement from the city of Chiang Mai:

The project to fix the _____________ bridge will be 3 metres across by 110 metres long.

The sales office phone # is: (053-259108)

The contract starts on 8 Sept. 2555 (2013) and finishes on 2 Sept. 2556 (2014), altogether 360 days.

Budget is 8,730,000 Baht.

A little late start but that is not surprising. The main thing is they are going to rebuild it.

Thanks for the interpretation.wai2.gif

That is good news to me, I miss that bridge. I would like to see that area beautified, the west side of the river between Kad Luang and Keawnarawat Br. is a toilet literally, if you walk along the river, you choke from amonia (piss) fumes, that should be a place to relax by the water and picnic.... there should be a continuos river walk path along both sides, with tables and benches, landscaping.... and yes the ever present food carts. First priorty would be provide a place to pee for the tuk tuk drivers and vendors, .....I know, I am a dreamer but hey, CM has so few urban parks and really no common areas for people to gather. They sell all that ready to eat food at the Kad but really nowhere nice to sit and eat.

Don't hold your breath. They have been planning to build a little park-like or rest area a bit further down, between Kad Luang and Narawat Bridge across from the flower market. The sign has been posted for at least a year now but I've never seen the slightest hint of any construction yet.
