Sex Bombs: Thai beauties from the 60s, 70s

BANGKOK: -- From 1960 to 1975, when the big screen was king and women’s roles were in flux, Thailand’s Dao Yua vixens sizzled. Loosely translated as “sexy stars,” Dao Yua reflected society’s dueling impulses to both exploit and shame more assertive expressions of female sexuality.

On screen they were the bad girls. The immoral women of loose values and hot passions tempting otherwise virtuous male leads away from their chaste, virgin-queen leading ladies. And off screen, these pioneering women were degraded as raunchy wreckers of “traditional values.” How little things change.

Even though the term Dao Yua continued on, the subtlety of these smoldering, nude-but-not-naked beauties vanished after another wave of change brought greater freedom of expression, and with it, straight-up pornography which left nothing to the imagination.

I always fancied Jomjai Jarin & Sirikwan Nantasiri...

Some of the 70's finest! Sad about the outcome though.

My kind of girls, plenty of meat on the bones !

Isn't that Maria Osmond in the middle!

I was here in 1965 & 66. The girls were as beautiful then as they are now. Perhaps quite a bit more naive though. Sometimes I see old women at the market who speak nitnoi English and I wonder how they learned it. All those bargirls after the Vietnam war had to go back home and face the reality of living on the farm again. Many of them I can still picture to this day. Some real beauties and sweet girls.

And zero for you.

haven't you seen me in a bikini?

I'd agree with brit1984's rating of the three. Louse1953, what is your problem?

(PS. I do not want to see brit1984 in a bikini).

What outcome ( other than the miss universe argument)? Did they meet a bad end? As far as I know, Jomjai did some films in HK and was quite popular . Is there more to their stories.?

What is this "nude-but-not-naked" crap ? How simple to put it: Nudity or nakedness is the state of wearing no clothing.

Either her or Katy Perry.

Do you know the names of any of those films she made please ? I want to see them...

The one holding the lao kao. Gorgeous.

I remember seeing her pic in one of the HK film mags ( around early 70s?) with others from the Shaw Brothers studio. I can't remember seeing any of the films but in any event she would have been dubbed into Cantonese. I'll see if I can find a link to the mag, but it's been a few years since I last saw it in an online exhibition

Wow! No tramp stamp, no peircings, and a bush "what could knock your Aunt Connie's socks off".

Filming in the southeast asian heat though, imagine vast sums must have been budgeted for hairspray.

#6 Kompat Attaraya would not have aged well, I guess.
