The road from Icon up to Patong

Featured Replies

So they've relaid the road which takes you past Icon in Naiharn/Rawai, past the elephants and up towards Kata... which is lovely.

Does anybody know if they're going to continue the relaying process all the way up the coast?

Makes for an even nicer drive now!!

Don't think so. The Rawai part has been done, it is now up to Karon OrborTor, and I doubt they have the will or money for this.

Yeah fair enough, it must cost a lot. I wonder if they did it just to spend enough money so they didn't have a surplus and thus have their budget reduced next year?

Surely like they did with the traffic lights close to MM's? What a pointless exercise that was!

Maybe, who knows. The positive thinking is that preventive maintenance was done, the negative thinking that they did it to prevent a budget cut, or even more negative, the responsible guy at the Rawai OrborTor needed to pay his car finance.

The roadworks and resurfacing are happening constantly different parts of the island.

I suppose they have only limited amount of gear to do the roadworks and the works are planned accordingly.

A week ago there were a team to measure the road next to my home at Ao Por. They said they'll start doing the resurfacing in one month.
