Drunken man curses his motor bike

“I burn you for not loving me!” Police on duty at the Jomtien duty station received an unusual complaint that a man was trying to set fire to his own bike for refusing to start. On arrival of the spot in the beach road area, they found Kamsing Akra trying to get up after his motor bike had fallen on him. There were also some spent matches on the ground in what appeared to be an attempted arson move.

The worse the wear for whiskey, he told investigators he had owned the bike for 10 years and decided to buy a new one on a hire-purchase basis. But when he went to the shop, he was told that the antique two wheeler was worth only 1,500 baht in a trade-off for a spanking new vehicle. This measly sum wasn’t even enough for a deposit and Mr Kamsing had come to the conclusion his once treasured possession had let him down and didn’t love him any more.

In consequence, Mr Kamsing went on, the bike had to be punished by being burned. However, this had proved more difficult with a box of matches than he had anticipated. At this point, police felt they had heard enough. After checking that the bike in question really was his, they told him to go back to the sea food restaurant and see whether he could have his old job back.
